Pick: 3
Team: Chicago Bears
Selection: Jonathan Allen, DL, Alabama

The Chicago Bears spent heavily at both the cornerback position, on Prince Amukamara and Marcus Cooper, and at the quarterback position, with Mike Glennon, this offseason. However, the Bears still need to boost their front seven, and I chose Allen over Solomon Thomas in this situation because I view Allen as a safer selection, though potential down the road may not line up.

Coach John Fox needs to win this year, and Allen proved to be a solid, high level player for the Crimson Tide, who can help the Bears defensive front seven. When you have to win, and make no mistake, the Bears have to win, sometimes you draft for now over tomorrow, and selecting Allen over Thomas certainly fits that mold. If anything else, Allen strikes me as a guy who can be a contributing factor on the defensive line over the next five to seven seasons. [John McCarty]
