COLLEGE STATION, TX – NOVEMBER 12: Myles Garrett /

Pick: 1
Team: Cleveland Browns
Selection: Myles Garrett, DE, Texas A&M

Was there ever any doubt? Cleveland sticks with the pick and takes the best player in the draft. Myles Garrett is an athletic freak who dominated college football’s best division in the SEC. At 6-4, 272 lbs., he runs a 4.6 second 40-yard dash, and has all of the physical tools you look for in today’s NFL. What I like most about Garrett is his explosive first step. He’ll beat you off the line of scrimmage and into the backfield faster than any lineman can counter. Displays a wide variety of pass rushing moves including a powerful bull rush and a devastating spin move that reminds some people of Dwight Freeney.

A couple things to keep in mind though. Garrett never played more than 70% of his team’s defensive snaps throughout his college career. He appeared to take plays off to protect himself during his junior season, and at times he simply seems too fatigued. The Browns are not quite getting J.J. Watt with this pick, but a Julius Peppers type player is certainly not out of the question. And Peppers was taken with the 2nd overall pick back in 2002. [David Thomas]
