Los Angeles Rams: The Rams are unlikely to sign cornerback Trumaine Johnson to a long-term deal.

  • Author’s Take: You may have forgotten he even had the Franchise Tag used on him.  This was never in question as the two sides were never really even talking.

New England Patriots: Quarterback Tom Brady’s four game suspension appears to be sticking after his appeal for a rehearing was denied in court.

  • Author’s Take: As far as I’m concerned, that’s that for Deflategate.  I imagine there will eventually be some sort of “admission” and the suspension gets reduced to two games.

New Orleans Saints: The Saints are apparently making a strong push to sign veteran wide receiver Anquan Boldin.

New York Giants: The Giants have signed punter Brad Wing to a three year extension worth $6.45 million.

New York Jets: The Jets appear to be unlikely to sign defensive lineman Muhammad Wilkerson to a contract extension.

  • Author’s Take: This has been an odd situation from the outset.  It was clear that the Jets originally planned to move on from Wilkerson when they drafted Leonard Williams.  Then Sheldon Richardson went out and did stupid things that many thought would end his season.  But Richardson only got a one game suspension, which puts the Jets back in the driver’s seat.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: The Bucs are already experiencing the headache of having Brent Grimes on the roster…his wife, Miko Grimes.  This week she launched into a tirade laced with criticism of Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill, and even included anti-Semitic remarks towards the Dolphins management and ownership.

Washington Redskins: The Redskins have confirmed that they will not be signing quarterback Kirk Cousins to a contract extension, and he will play out the season on the Franchise Tag.

  • Author’s Take: This was largely expected.  Cousins and the team had two very different opinions of his value, and he feels he has nothing to lose by hitting Free Agency while the team feels they need to see another year before paying big bucks.
