Projected Starter- Fullback: Anthony Sherman

The faster the Chiefs get on offense and the more time they spend in shotgun, the less room there is for a true fullback. Sherman is at his best when he is a lead blocker for Charles or West but lately he has been more of a star on kickoffs and punts. Sherman has a knack for finding the kick returner and giving him a good thump which has proven very beneficial for the Chiefs and their special teams.

This season we should expect more of the same as Sherman will catch the occasional pass and run the occasional fake up the middle but with “spread game analyst” Brad Childress as co-offensive coordinator I wouldn’t expect a return to power football from the Chiefs. What really counts for Anthony Sherman and the Chiefs is that he provides invaluable leadership on and off the field. The Chiefs locker room can’t afford to lose this guy.

Roster Bubble: Trey Millard

The Chiefs signed Millard to a futures contract just after the regular season ended where not much is expected. He has yet to play an official down for any team as he was placed on the non-football injury list before the 2014 season while on the San Francisco 49ers. He was cut prior to the 2015 season and then picked up by the Chiefs.

There doesn’t appear to be any angle the Chiefs could benefit from Millard being on the team. They have enough tight ends and tend not to use their current fullback much. Unless they really like him for special teams don’t be surprised if Millard lines up on the early list of cuts.
