4th Round

Jerrell Adams – TE – South Carolina

Strengths: Great height and length to make him a mismatch over the middle, Adams also shows very good athleticism to match.  Surprisingly fast, he will get on top of defenders quickly.  Uses good route running to create separation, and understands how to use his body to seal off defenders from the ball.  Shows quality hands.  Is a willing and capable blocker in the run game, showing an understanding for maneuvering defenders away from the ball-carrier.

Weaknesses: Needs to add some bulk to his frame to improve his strength at the point of attack.  Can run stiff at times and needs to further refine his route running.  Despite having all the tools, was relatively unproductive at South Carolina.

The Fit: Adams was a versatile superstar coming out of high school, and the early intentions were for him to play defense at South Carolina.  However, he ended up at TE and did progress each year.  Though he needs to add some size, he is one of the most technically sound blockers in this draft class which is where the Chiefs could really use some help.
