Chiefs free agency: Five targets to consider
2. Anquan Boldin
Boldin is a great get for a team trying to get over the proverbial hump. At 35 years old, Boldin is clearly on the back end of what has been a great career. After playing 13 seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers, Boldin is likely hoping to get a second Super Bowl ring before he retires. It’s hard to think he wouldn’t look close at Kansas City.
Boldin might be old, but he can still play. Despite playing with Colin Kaepernick and Blaine Gabbert, Boldin caught 69 passes for 789 yards and four touchdowns in 14 games. Boldin had two consecutive 1,000-yard seasons before 2015, showcasing his ability. At 6-foot-1 and 220 pounds, Boldin would be a perfect compliment to Maclin, who is more about speed.
The Chiefs are trying to win it all, and Boldin personifies the toughness and leadership it takes, let alone talent. Dorsey would also have an easy time fitting Boldin within the budget, considering he won’t cost a fortune at this stage of his Hall of Fame career. Boldin would thrive on the other side of Maclin, and make the Chiefs a much more dangerous offense.
