1. Pittsbrugh Needs To Beat The Chiefs To Ensure A Playoff Berth

When the game kicks off at Heinz field on Sunday, both teams will have a lot to play for, as both still control their playoff destiny.

As I stated at the top of the article, the Chiefs need this win to keep control of their postseason fate. A loss means hoping for an unlikely orchestration of events in the rest of the AFC. (For specifics on Chiefs playoff scenarios, check Ben Nielsen’s article here.)

The Steelers still have a shot at winning their division, and can do so by winning out. However, if they lose this week, they are not even ensured of making the playoffs. But if they beat KC, then the only question left for the Steelers in week 17 is whether they go to the postseason as a division champ or a wild card.

With everything on the line, this has all the makings of a fantastic game between two teams who are ready to play. Hopefully, the nagging inconsistency they have faced this year won’t come back to bite them. Or at least, not the Chiefs.
