Philip Rivers
At some point in the future, a red-eyed, vein-popping Rivers will be twiddling his thumbs in a chair. Maury will announce, “Philip…you are not the father.” Rivers will Gronk spike his bolo tie, point Shooter McGavin-esque finger guns at Walker and Texas Ranger Bobby (NSFW), then pelt boo birds like they were United Way kids running from Peyton.
That’s how it pans out in my head, at least.
San Diego is a sunny, easygoing, “five letters: R-E-L-A-X” community. Its quarterback is the antithesis.
However, Chargers head coach and quarterback whisperer Mike McCoy has resuscitated Rivers’ career.
He embarrassed Kansas City’s secondary twice last season, and his 2014 campaign (69.3 completion percentage, 15 TD, 2 INT) is bordering on MVP consideration. Furthermore, Rivers’ current 117.6 passer rating headlines the league.
Week 13 Statistics (at Kansas City, 2013): 27/39, 392 YDS, 3 TD
Week 17 Statistics (vs. Kansas City, 2013): 22/33, 229, 3 TD, INT
