Defensive Backs
Bradley Roby – CB – Ohio State
Bradley Roby (5’11 – 194) started the 2013 season as one of the best cornerback prospects in the NCAA but after putting up poor film this year, Roby’s stock has dropped drastically. If you were just looking at the combine however, you’d be very impressed with Roby and his potential. Of all athlete’s I saw participate in the combine this weekend, Roby was the most impressive to me. He made all his movements seem extremely easy and effortless. He ran a 4.39 forty and actually seemed disappointed with that time. If Roby was available in the third or fourth round I’d run to the podium. He may not be as tall as you’d like to see these days, but secondary depth is also becoming more and more important.
Jason Verrett – CB – TCU
Jason Verrett (5-9 – 189) is an undersized corner from TCU. If Verrett was 4 inches taller, he would hands down be the best corner in the draft. Despite his size, he is extremely powerful. Verrett posted a higher vertical and broad jump than most defensive backs in the combine. He ran a 4.38 second forty and had a vertical jump of 39 inches. Verrett will no doubt be a special teams player and a nickel corner, but could also learn to return kicks and punts if need be. Expect Verrett to come off the board in the late fourth to early fifth round.
