Maybe this approach is aimed at weathering a late season five-game stretch against New England, Pittsburgh, Green Bay, Chicago and the New York Jets that will almost assuredly make or break the Chiefs season. But is this the right approach? Do you want you guys still learning the system during the first few weeks of the regular season? It does not seem like the most efficient approach to me.

Right 53 doesn’t mean anything anymore, if it ever did. Because no definition of “right 53″ includes Jonathan Baldwin, Justin Houston, Jared Gaither and Jerrell Powe. These guys are the exact opposite of what that phrase was supposed to mean. Upside lottery tickets. Hey, I love ‘em. But up until this season we all thought Pioli didn’t. Its like some guy spent two years telling us he didn’t like ice cream and then when he finally had us over to his house his freezer was full of Cherry Garcia and Americone Dream.

By all accounts the deal is about done, and it seems to be something both sides can agree on. I’m no lawyer, to pour over the minutiae and say who got the better of it. I’m hopelessly biased against the owners in any case. But, I mean, shouldn’t it be a given that you’re going to unanimously approve a plan you wrote? I would guess all the disagreement pretty much gets weeded out during authorship, right? Was a “we did it!” press conference before the players had even seen the proposal really necessary?

But that said, I am going to look at this lockout, after the fact, as a small blessing. Besides leaving the league and its players (and definitely its owners) in a better state for having hashed out their differences—and I really do believe that—it has given me a new appreciation that I didn’t think I’d allow myself to feel. It isn’t all just going to be ponies and gum drops and rainbows and chicken spiedini from here on. Some very bitter and lingering truths about the owners and the players (but mostly the owners) came to light, and as ticket prices and team profits continue to rise, much of the same fan frustration will remain.

I hope all of you Addicts out there are having a nice weekend. If nothing else, at least the news continues to point towards the lockout ending in a matter of days. While every football fan in America continues to play the waiting game you can keep yourself busy by making sure you’re caught up on all the latest in the Chiefs universe by reading any of the great pieces you may have missed this week here at AA.

On Monday, I tried one last time to sell everyone on the idea of signing Aubrayo Franklin. Nick broke down the Calm Before The Storm for us and our head man Patrick Allen even combined the Chiefs universe with the magical world of Harry Potter. Jeremy had a good piece up about the Battle At Fullback this season and Andrew gave us his list of the Top Players Under The Age Of 27. The newest member of the AA family Chris Matthews rolled out his latest episode of his animated series One Arrowhead Drive, if you haven’t seen it yet definately take the time to check it out.

I would also like to take a moment to throw a shout out to AA’s resident artist, Tony Rangel, who’s work you are now seeing for most of the feature posts. I won’t speak for all of the writers, but I really love my Armchair Addict logo and think his work really gives the sight a great look. In case you haven’t been paying attention, I included a couple below just to refresh your memory. Thanks again for the great work Tony!

Well Addicts have a great rest of your weekend and let’s hope its the last weekend of this lockout.

Well Addicts this post is hitting a little bit late, sorry about that. I do however want to make sure you have links to another great week of posts from the staff here at AA. This labor stoppage is driving us all crazy so until they finally get the stupid thing done you can pass the time with these great write ups from our features writers.

On Monday our man Big Matt tried to deal with the news of Mike Vrabel’s retirement (it was pretty hard on him). On Tuesday Victor gave us the best piece of the week when he introduced us to the world’s newest Chiefs fan (congrats Victor). Next up was Ladner with his piece that explained the “set up” Godfather style. Thursday is was Merlin who discussed Bob Gretz’s list of the greatest Chiefs of all time. Finally, earlier today Randy gave us a preseason wrap up to get us ready for the first preseason game that now looks like it should actually happen.

Another good week here at AA, so make sure you check out anything you might have missed.

Hello KC Chiefs fans! It’s Friday night and if your Friday night is a little less “D-Bowe” and a little more like the bald dude behind him in the picture above you might need a little something to pass the time. What better then catching up with all the great AA features you might have missed this week. Despite the football blackhole that the lockout has created your staff here at AA just keeps cranking out the goods. So if you missed anything here’s your chance to get caught up.

On Monday, our man Big Matt got things started by telling us all “What Matt Want” when it comes to the trio of Todd Haley, Scott Pioli, and Clark Hunt. On Tuesday, it was Victor’s turn and he’s thinking KC may be becoming a “Futball Town“, which in my opinion would qualify for our head man Patrick Allen’s list of 100 things scarier then no football. Speaking of which, #29-20 hit the site this week and is a must read. The humor kept on coming with Ladner Morse’s piece on where some big names might be if there “Were No NFL“. Finally, earlier today Randy gave us a good piece on the “Control” Todd Haley has on his team.

So what’s on your mind Addicts? Anything from the pieces above still weighing on your mind? Anything exciting happen this week? I spent the week at a cabin just off a lake in Oklahoma (the kind of cabin with AC and a hot tub), so clearly it was a pretty taxing week for me with all the hiking, boating, and cooking out. Feel free to use the comments for this post to share just about anything.
