The New York Jets have traded a fourth and sixth round picks to the Denver Broncos for Tim Tebow and a seventh round selection.

I’d be happy about Tebow being out of the AFC West if he wasn’t, you know, coming to the city I LIVE IN!

The Jets have Tony Sporano, of the Dolphins Wildcat fame, as their offensive coordinator now. I expect things in New York are about to get very tricky on offense.

Stay tuned.

The Denver Broncos aren’t being shy about their pursuit of Peyton Manning.

But what about Timmy Boy?

The Broncos already have a “quarterback” on their roster by the name of Tim Tebow, who led them to an AFC West title and a playoff victory last season. That hasn’t stopped the Broncos and John Elway from going after #18.

Tebow was set to talk to the media today at an appearance in Tampa, Florida in an effort to raise money for wounded veterans but at the last minute, he canceled his media session.

I can’t say I blame him. He would be asked nothing about his work with the charity and the entire session would be a bombardment of questions about Manning. Questions Tebow has no answer for.

It is almost impossible for me to imagine Manning going to Denver with Tebow still on the roster. It would be distraction city.

Which means if the Broncos do land Manning, Tebow is likely to be shipped off to some other franchise.

But let’s hope it doesn’t come to that.

Despite losing three in a row to end the season, Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos are the new AFC West Champions.

The Chiefs beat the Broncos 7-3 today but the Chargers beat the Raiders out in Oakland so Denver won the West based on a tie-breaker decided by record against common opponents.

The Broncos may be thrilled to have won the division but they are simply limping into the playoffs. The rest of the NFL has seemed to figure out what the Broncos are doing on offense and Tebow has struggled for the third week in a row. Unless the Denver QB can get the team’s passing game going, it could be a short playoff trip for the Broncos.

Still, the Donkeys won the division fair and square, so congratulations to them.

The Kansas City Chiefs and Kyle Orton beat the Denver Broncos and Tim Tebow 7-3 Sunday.

The Chiefs will likely find themselves wondering what could have been as a win last week against the Oakland Raiders would have meant today’s win delivered the AFC West Championship to Kansas City.

But the Chiefs lost that game to the Raiders in overtime and now the attention of the league turns to Oakland where the Raiders are fighting for their playoff lives against the San Diego Chargers.

The scenario is simple. If the Raiders win, they are the AFC West Champions. If the Raiders lose, Denver wins the AFC West.

But the story today was one of revenge for Kyle Orton and of Romeo Crennel’s 2-1 mark as the Chiefs’ head coach.

The Kansas City Chiefs will try to knock the Denver Broncos out of the playoffs Sunday when they travel to Mile High.

There is plenty to talk about in regards to this game so I sat down with Kim Constantinesco of Predominately Orange, FanSided’s Denver Broncos site. Kim has been running PO for a while now and it is the best Broncos site out there.

Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Let’s go Inside the Enemy Camp with Predominately Orange.

Obviously Tebow is a great leader and winner and all that. He’s a difference maker. But do you think he can develop into a strong enough passing QB to lead the Broncos to a Super Bowl?

The lockout hurt Tebow as much if not more than anyone last off season. It’s clear that his mechanics (from throwing motion to going through his reads quicker) need work and that’s where the OTA’s really come into play. After the season is over, John Elway has promised that he will turn his cap backwards so to speak and hit the practice field with Tebow.

As far as leading the Broncos to a Super Bowl, it doesn’t have to happen with just his arm. In the last 20 years, 76 passers have thrown for 4,000+ yards, yet only 3 have won Super Bowls the same season (Kurt Warner – ’99, Peyton Manning – ’06, and Drew Brees – ’09). That goes to show that balance is key. Once his arm can catch up with his legs and the Broncos can maintain a good rushing attack and a solid defense, I can see the Broncos reaching the Super Bowl with Tebow as their QB.

How awesome is it watching Von Miller? It is such a good pick by the Broncos it makes me sick. Should be fun watching him and Tamba Hali go after the QBs Sunday. Who gets more sacks?

Miller was a phenomenal pick by the Broncos. Unfortunately he will be playing his fourth straight game with a giant cast on his right hand (torn thumb ligaments). He’s been limited in the Broncos last two games with just 2 tackles and zero sacks. Since returning from his injury, he has just 1 sack and 7 tackles. Through his first 11 games he had 10.5 sacks.

I would expect Hali to beat out Miller in Sunday’s sack race. Miller can’t fully grab offensive linemen right now so they are playing him differently. He can’t get under lineman and push them back to win in the leverage game.

Elway is a pretty forthcoming guy where a lot of GMs (particularly Scott Pioli) are pretty tight lipped. Do you like his style?

There isn’t much that Elway can’t get away with in Denver. He led the Broncos to two Super Bowl wins, he runs a great restaurant business, he’s successful in other business ventures, and he keeps a clean image. That’s why he feels like he can fire his words from the hip.

I do like his style. He lets John Fox and Co. do their job and keeps a lower profile than you would expect. There’s a nice balance in the Broncos front office now whereas when Josh McDaniels was in there, he ran the circus, errr, show. GM Brian Xanders didn’t have much say and it was his way or the highway. Elway respects Xanders and Fox so I think it’s a nice working relationship. The drama (if there has been any) has been kept in house which is exactly how it should be.

What would you say Denver’s biggest weakness is that the Chiefs may try to expose?

Denver’s biggest weakness is the pass offense. They’ve struggled mightily with turnovers (7 in the last two weeks) and that’s when they fall dead in the water. Whenever the Broncos don’t turn the ball over, they keep themselves in the game. The Chiefs secondary probably smells blood in the water in that department.

What would you say is Denver’s #1 need heading into the NFL Draft?

Defensive lineman. The Broncos picked up Ty Warren in free agency but he hit the IR before the season started. It seems like the line has been a constant head scratcher after underperforming draft picks, and the team being forced to use backups due to injury.

Your prediction for Sunday?

It’s win and you’re in for the Broncos so I think they will bring their ‘A’ game. They’re at home and fired up for a win after two straight losses.

Broncos – 24

Chiefs – 17

Here are five players we’ll be keeping a close eye on in the Chiefs’ season finale.

Kyle Orton

This list has to begin with Kyle Orton. The former Broncos QB who got ran out of town by the Tebow-maniacs in Denver will surely be looking to get revenge. Orton will be unlikely to receive a warm welcome Sunday but for once the fans at Mile High will be booing him for being on the other team.

Will Orton crack under the pressure or will he make the entire city of Denver pay? His contract is up after the season so Orton is also auditioning for the rest of the league.

AFC

If only Baltimore just played home games or against division rivals. The Ravens beat the Bengals at home to, once again, tie Pittsburgh atop the AFC North at 7-3. Both the Ravens and Steelers are well over 92 percent probability to reach the playoffs, meaning they are likely to be fighting for the division crown and seeding. All three of Baltimore’s losses have come on the road, so the division title looks to be significantly more important for the Ravens than the Steelers. However, Cincinnati is still in the playoff race, making the postseason in 49 percent of simulations, but it becomes more difficult every week. Despite losing 19.4 percentage points in playoff probability this week, the Bengals are still the leading contender for a Wild Card spot. Playing in the same division as two of the best franchises in football is not easy.

Tim Tebow and the Broncos defense took advantage of a short week to beat the Jets on Thursday night. Denver has now won four of five games to jump seriously into the AFC West race, trailing Oakland by only one game. The Broncos gained 14.8 percentage points in playoff probability and are up to 20.3 percent overall. Oakland, though, is far and away the division leader at the moment, winning the division in 70.5 percent of simulations. San Diego used to be where Oakland is right now, but the Chargers (especially Philip Rivers) have seemingly forgotten how to play good football. The Chargers are only 15 percent likely to win the division with 6 weeks to go. The Chiefs have issues everywhere and are the only AFC West team out of the race.

The Kansas City Chiefs will look to join the Oakland Raiders in first place in the AFC West today when the Denver Broncos come to Arrowhead Stadium.

The Arrowhead Addict staff is going on the record with our predictions for today’s game. Let’s do it.

Patrick Allen

I am still so disgusted with KC’s performance vs. the Dolphins that I am almost tempted to pick the Broncos in this game. I feel wronged, you see? I picked the Chiefs to win by a lot on Sunday and instead they lost by a lot. To the Dolphins.

Still, the Chiefs have been dead and buried before and have been able to come back from it. It may not be pretty but I’ll be damned if I’ll pick Tim Tebow to win at Arrowhead Stadium.

Chiefs 16, Broncos 14

These lovely ladies above have some advice for you about today’s game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Denver Broncos.

I think they do anyway. When the one on the left was talking I was distracted and I couldn’t understand a damn word the one on the right said.

Anyway, if you are looking for some fantasy football advice about the players in today’s game you’ve come to the wrong place. Last week I tried to give some advice for the Chiefs, Dolphins game and it all turned out to be awful. I suggested starting the Chiefs defense and I think I might have even suggested using Matt Cassel if you were in a tight spot.

Actually, maybe I am really good at this. Just do the OPPOSITE of whatever I say. After the jump.

The Denver Broncos will be coming to Arrowhead Stadium Sunday to face the Kansas City Chiefs in a crucial divisional matchup. Arrowhead is traditionally a difficult place for opposing QBs to play* so Tim Tebow could have his hands full on Sunday.

*Unless of course you are Matt Moore and a winless Dolphins team. Still. Bitter.

Then again, as Kim Constantinesco from Predominately Orange, FanSided’s Denver Broncos site tells us in a recent article, Tebow has been solid on the road.

The Broncos’ offense is the hot topic of conversation lately. Something that isn’t quite at the forefront is Tebow’s ability to thrive on the road.

We all know that Tebow picks up the pace and his game as the clock winds down. He plays best with his back up against the wall. The fear and the hatred of losing trumps all in his book.

Perhaps that’s why Tebow plays so well in somebody else’s stadium. He has 7 career touchdowns and 0 turnovers in his 128 touches on the road.

From predominantlyorange.com (share this quote)

Hopefully the Arrowhead crowd will be able to capture a little bit of their Halloween night swagger this weekend to make things more difficult on Tebow. The KC faithful appear to be up to the task when the team is playing in prime time but the Sunday to Sunday wall of sound seems to be a bit lacking.

What do you think, Addicts? Will the Chiefs snap Tebow’s streak of impressive road performances? Or will he stick a dagger into the heart of the Chiefs’ playoff hopes?

The Kansas City Chiefs will look to get their season back on track this Sunday when Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos come to town. As much as the Broncos have struggled this season they have, like the Chiefs, pulled themselves back into the division race.

Kansas City got carved up a week ago by Matt Moore so they shouldn’t be taking any NFL offense lightly these days, particularly one as unpredictable as Denver’s. Chiefs coach Todd Haley told reporters today that KC’s defense always starts with a focus on stopping the run.

“Our defensive philosophy regardless of who we are playing, is we’ve got to stop the run first. If we don’t stop the run then we’ll probably have a problem against anybody we play and Denver’s no different, and they happen to be running the ball really well right now so defensively we must do a good job against the run. They’ve got a number of guys including the quarter back that run it well, and at the same time we’ve got to be able to defend that pass but that doesn’t change week in and week out.”

More after the jump.

Apparently a lot of NFL players feel the same way.

The Sporting News conducted a poll of 111 players from 31 teams and a whopping 22 of those 111 players answered “Tim Tebow” when they were asked who the most overrated player in the league was.

Tony Romo came in a close second. Mark Sanchez was third.

In a recent and unofficial Arrowhead Addict poll that never happened but probably should have, Tim Tebow was voted “Biggest Tool.”

Well now the craze is also an effective tool for mocking Tebow on the football field.

After sacking the Denver QB in today’s game, Lions linebacker Stephen Tulloch struck a Tebowing pose of his own.

Broncos head coach John Fox has finally cracked under the pressure and named Tim Tebow the starting QB of the Denver Broncos.

Get ready for a media love-fest the likes of which we haven’t seen since Brett Favre started sending cellphone pictures of his schlong to unsuspecting women.

Marvel as, after every completion, Tebow is declared a future hall of famer. Gasp, as after every interception, he is declared a huge bust.

It begins.

We always take any opportunity to take a friendly shot at a division rival here at Arrowhead Addict. These shots are especially important when the team isn’t playing all that well because we need something to entertain us.

Thus, as you are enjoying the first win of the season, also enjoy this video of Denver RB Knowshon Moreno falling off a stationary bike. Moreno has only ten attempts this season for 26 yards, which makes him about as effective as Thomas Jones.

Bet that would have never happened to Tim Tebow.

So all in all it appears that unfortunately I was right about free agency up to this point. No big splashes (unless you count picking up the Cardinals #2 receiver) and a few decent players picked up at bargain prices. According to Scott Pioli he has no set cap for spending from the Hunt family, and basically has free reign to pay for and pick up whoever he wants for the team. Evidently Pioli never saw the movie “Blank Check.”

So either Pioli is lying (or how I’m sure he would justify it telling a “half-truth”) or he really doesn’t see any big free agents that are worth the asking price. At least here the Chiefs are consistent, applying the same mode of thinking that brought the Chiefs Mike Vrabel: Bring in veterans that can play a couple of years to help mentor draft picks until they are ready to take over. I don’t mind that line of thought other than the fact that it makes for a dull free agent market.

Another interesting piece of information from this press conference was that Haley and Pioli had a so called “comprehensive plan” for dealing with free agency. I think we can all agree that nothing that they have done so far appears to be all that comprehensive. During the FA threads it was mentioned that weighing all of the gains and losses that the Chiefs were a worse team this year than last year. Granted that may be true, but the more I think about it the more I think that is not the question we should ask. I think the real question that should be at the forefront of our Addict brain is: Are the Chiefs better than the other AFC West teams?

Charles defeated Tebow by receiving 64% of the vote to Tebow’s 36%.

The Chiefs RB now moves on to the “Sweet 16″ and things aren’t getting any easier. The 6th seeded Charles will go up against another of the games top RB’s in 3 seeded Maurice Jones-Drew.

Head here to vote in the second round. If you don’t fear the Madden Curse, then by all means vote for Charles.

As far as I am concerned, Charles already won by beating Tebow. JC is king in the AFC West!

EA Sports is doing a NCAA style bracket tournament to decide on the new cover athlete for it’s popular football franchise Madden NFL Football.

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles is one of the finalists and drew popular Denver Broncos QB Tim Tebow in the first round of the tournament.

When the news broke, I commented that it was a big unfair that Tebow was a finalist, given that he has accomplished very little in the NFL. I argued that Champ Bailey would be a much better candidate for the Broncos. I also gave warning to Chiefs fans that a Charles victory could mean the dreaded Madden Curse could, for the first time, come to Kansas City.

As of now, it looks like Charles is going to advance. ESPN.com just released an article to give an update on the first round Madden voting. According to the article, Charles is kicking Tebow’s rear.

Another shocker is the fact that Tim Tebow, the man who was leading the NFL in jersey sales as a rookie, is losing to Jamaal Charles of the Chiefs, 64.9% to 35%. What happened to all of those Tebow fans out there? Are we seeing a fan backlash against the quarterback? Should EA Sports have went with Brandon Lloyd for the cover instead?

More after the jump.

Two years ago, fans of the Kansas City Chiefs cringed when QB Matt Cassel was a finalist to make the cover of Madden NFL 10. Thankfully, Cassel avoided landing on the cover of the world’s most popular only NFL football video game, escaping the dreaded Madden curse.

Then again, considering how the 2009 Kansas City Chiefs’ season went, perhaps Cassel caught a touch of the curse simply for being nominated. It is a horror just to be nominated after all.

Two years later, the Chiefs are developing starts and now RB Jamaal Charles is a candidate to grace the cover of Madden. This year, EA Sports is doing a NCAA Tournament style voting process to select a winner. Fans will vote in a series of one on one matchups until only one player remains. The players are even broken up into seeds, just like in the real NCAA Tournament. Charles is currently ranked as a 6 seed in his region and he will be going up against none other than…

Tim Tebow of the Denver Broncos.

The Kansas City Chiefs go inside the enemy camp this Sunday when they travel to Denver to take on the Broncos.

Earlier this week, Arrowhead Addict went inside the enemy camp to get a better idea of what the Chiefs are up against when they take on the Broncos. Kim Constantinesco, Fansided’s Broncos blogger was kind enough to answer a few of my questions. Check out her Broncos site Predominantly Orange.

AA: The Broncos are 3rd in the NFL in passing yards per-game but dead last in rushing yards. What has been holding the Broncos back on the ground this season?

PO: At first the injury bug caught the ground game off guard. The preseason and the first few games of the regular season saw a rotating offensive line and backfield. Pro Bowl left tackle Ryan Clady didn’t practice with the team during training camp because of an off season knee injury. Knowshon Moreno and Correll Buckhalter also missed most of camp and a couple of regular season games with injuries. Factor that in with three rookies on an offensive line that is constantly rotating, and the rushing attack hasn’t had time to gel as a unit. The blocking has been subpar and the team has backs that dance around in the backfield instead following their blockers and of shooting the open gaps. With the kind of performance that Kyle Orton has had this year, one would think that his throwing capability would force teams to play the pass, enabling the Broncos’ ground game to explode for a big run here and there. That hasn’t happened yet and that’s the frustrating part.

Last night, we had a little fun at the expense of the Raiders. All day long, we were treated to Raider Trolls, who stumbled upon a Chiefs site expecting us to all be sitting around talking about how great their team is.

Tonight, we take aim at the Denver Donkeys. “The Donkey” is a favorite nickname of our other AFC West foe but it has been around for a while and maybe we can come up with something different.

My favorite new Raider nickname from last night was “The Practice Squad.”

What is your favorite old/new Denver nickname?

(As always, be respectful to race, religion, sexuality and all of that. If Bronco trolls show up, ignore them).

I will get us started. In honor of their coach, I think they should change their names to the “McDonkeys”

Also: Check out this picture I found of Tim Tebow when he was a kid.

Anyway, reader americanwolfx, threw up an Addict Post that I thought was really cool and I couldn’t wait to share it with you all tonight. Please enjoy it while I take the rest of the evening off to watch “Freddy’s Dead; The Final Nightmare,” to bone up for the release of the Nightmare on Elm Street remake this weekend. Big horror fan here…which is obvious, I suppose, considering my favorite thing to do is watch the Kansas City Chiefs play football. Cheers and see ya’ll tomorrow.

From the Addict Posts, good job, americanwolfx.

Being a big Florida Gator fan and a life long Chiefs fan I was devastated by Denver drafting Tebow. However the Chiefs got Berry which more then makes up for it to me. So I have been doing some studying on the Tebow/Berry match up and This is what I came up with.

This isn’t Chiefs related but I would be doing you a disservice if I did not pass the info along to you. Deadspin has a video of Jerry Jones who appears trashed and is bad mouthing Bill Parcells and Tim Tebow. He seems to claim he only brought in Bill Parcell’s to get money to build his team’s new stadium. Below is a bit of the transcript and here is the link.

Jerry Jones: Romo was a miracle.

Other guy: It was a miracle, wasn’t it?

JJ: He almost never got in, and he almost was gone. Tebow would never…

Different other guy: What if you were the Jaguars or — would you just, just draft him and sell fucking jerseys?

JJ: That’s the only reason I brought in Bill Parcells.

[Laughter]

JJ: [Inaudible. Sounds a little like, "Sell mammoth fuckin' rake," whatever that means.]

McDonald writes that, according to Brandt, the Raiders’ coaches met with Tebow and came away impressed with the way he responded when they asked him to break down a play. According to Brandt, Tebow went over the play and told them, “This is how it’s called with Florida, this is how it’s called with your organization, and this is how it’s called with West Coast teams.” In recounting Tebow’s conversation with the Raiders’ staff, Brandt said, “I’m not sure if this is true.” So maybe we need to take this with more than just a grain of salt. But if the report is to be believed, the Raiders can be added to the list of teams that may be interested in Tebow.

In a recent article on SFGate.com, home of the San Francisco Chronicle, David White reported that Raiders have been offered the opportunity to trade out of the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft.

Citing an unnamed source, White claims that an unnamed team offered the Raiders their 2010 second round pick and their 2011 first round pick for the 8th pick in this years draft. Remember, the Raiders foolishly traded away their 2011 first round pick to the New England Patriots for Richard Seymour. Taking this deal would move the team out of the first round this year but would give them two 2nd round selections. The extra 2nd rounder should be attractive to the Raiders as it is being reported that they may offer their current 2nd round pick to the Eagles for QB Donnovan McNabb. Essentially, if the Raiders were to take the deal and trade for McNabb, they would have acquired Richard Seymour and Donnovan McNabb for a 2010 first round pick. Not too shabby, eh?

If you’ve been a consistent visitor to Arrowhead Addict you have no doubt read the plethora of discussion and speculation on what the Chiefs should/will do with the first 4 of their 8 picks. What hasn’t been talked about, as much, is what the Chiefs might do with the 2nd half of their 8 picks. The Chiefs have four picks that are all Day 3 and three of which come in the 5th round. So, inspired by Crocker’s article http://arrowheadaddict.com/201…..d-offense/, I decided to give my 2 cents on my thoughts with the possible picks the Chiefs could make on Day 3.

Quick Note: Here are the positions I see being addressed by
the Chiefs with their first 4 picks:
ILB, NT, OL, S.

Quarterbacks: The only QBs I would consider Day 3 are Tim Tebow and John Skelton from Fordham. Tebow is worth it if he slipped this far for his intangibles alone. Skelton has the size of a NFL QB and his arm looks good as well. He is a small school prospect and might be worth a Day 3 pick for us to take a look at him.

Other than perhaps Todd Haley, there may be no bigger fan of Chiefs offensive coordinator Charlie Weis than Notre Dame wide receiver Golden Tate. While most players attending the scouting combine in Indianapolis are coached to publicly play no favorites when it comes to a preferred NFL destination, Tate didn’t hesitate about his.

“It’s always going to be a dream,” he said, ‘’to play for the head coach who taught me how to be a receiver.”

Tate went so far as to say he might not be a candidate to become a first-round draft pick if he didn’t play for Weis at Notre Dame.

“I think that’s one of the reasons I accepted a scholarship to Notre Dame,” Tate said. “I knew that the situation I was going into that coach Weis was a professional-caliber coach. The system’s got to be similar. So I knew that I would have a head start when I decided to pursue my dream and play professional football. That was one of the things going into college that I understood. He came from the Patriots, won championships and I knew that I’m going to get better and learn the game.”

ESPN is reporting that Tim Tebow is making some changes to his game:

In an effort to quiet his critics and refine his game, former GatorsTim Tebow is changing the way he holds a football, shifting it from his waist to his shoulder. quarterback

He is concentrating on taking three- and five-step drops instead of working out of the shotgun formation he did at Florida.

He will not unveil Tebow 2.0 at this week’s scouting combine in Indianapolis, preferring instead to wait for his pro day at the University of Florida on March 17.

Tebow has suffered much criticism about his technique. Many pundits feel that while Tebow was one of the most successful QB’s in college history, his skills will not translate at the pro level.

If anyone can change his approach and succeed, it is likely Tebow. He seems to be a very driven and hard working individual. I don’t think you can achieve the kind of success and positive reputation Tebow has without a certain degree of determination.

The spread offense. Everybody is talking about it. I think some locals are down on it because of Missouri‘s lackluster season (Has anybody else just concluded that they played lights out and caught the college football world off guard a year ago?), but both Florida and Oklahoma use it, too. The Patriots used a lot of spread during their historic 2007 season as well. Then there’s our Chiefs; we’ve looked a helluva lot better since we installed the spread and especially the pistol variation of the spread, coinciding with Larry Johnson‘s return.

At first, I was an anti-spread guy when it came to the pros. I’ve softened a little bit on that stance. First off, it’s obvious that Tyler Thigpen is much more comfortable in this kind of offense. The offense line was a five-lane expressway before we implemented the formation. Larry? I think it’s easy for him to get a head full of steam, which makes him extremely difficult to bring down. I also think this offense could potentially extend his career. Tony Gonzalez? More receiving, less blocking. As a result, he’s thrived. Dwayne Bowe has been his usual standout self, occasional drops due to lapses in concentration and all. Mark Bradley has emerged as a legit complimentary receiver.

The other pro is that both Sam Bradford and Tim Tebow run the spread, and rumor has it that we are still thinking quarterback. Don’t shoot the messenger, yo, but we might still draft a quarterback this upcoming spring. If Andre Smith is unavailable, I think anything that early except a QB might be a reach in this draft class. I don’t see a top-five defensive end among the bunch, and I don’t believe top-five linebackers exist. You reach when you pick a LB in the top five. I’ll put it this way; I’d rather have two good quarterbacks than none. Gotta hedge that bet.

One other potential pro is that it could balance out Herm Edwards‘ tendency to be overly conservative. Because the spread is an aggressive formation by nature, conservative playcalling with this formation is counter-productive.

Cons? Well, L.J. isn’t exactly the Wizard of Westbrook as a receiver and Jamaal Charles hands are suspect. I also think it puts you at a disadvantage in the redzone and on short yardage situations, because if you line up in under-center formations after primarily running the spread it telegraphs that you are going to go to the power running game. Especially with Harm at coach. Additionally, if Harm tries to be too conservative late in games he will clip the spread’s wings.

It’s also currently unknown just how effective either Brodie Croyle or Quinn Gray will be in the spread, or if either guy will even be around next year should we stick with the trendy O. Damon Huard‘s done as a Chief, that we know.

Like everybody else, I’m going to keep an eye on Thiggy Smalls these next three weeks. By the end of the season, he will have had basically 10 games in the spread. I think that’s enough of a look for the Addict jury, and the Chiefs, to reach a verdict.

Addicts, should the spread stay or should it go?
