Philip Rivers is a pretty good QB, but he just isn’t a likeable guy.

From his on-field temper tantrums to his being the QB of the Chargers, there just isn’t a lot for a Chiefs fan to appreciate about Rivers…

…except for this:

Special thanks to Ernie Padon, the editor of FanSided’s Chargers site, Bolt Beat, for sending this jewel my way.

This, at least in part, makes up for the Matt Cassel hat fail and the Matt Cassel celebration fail.

We'll see who's laughing when you wake up and find one of these assholes asleep on your couch.

According to the San Diego Tribune, an 81-year old woman living in Pacific Beach, California woke this morning to find a strange man in a San Diego Chargers Jersey passed out on her couch.

As you can imagine, the women was shocked to find that not only do Chargers fans exist, there was a drunk one on her freaking couch. The man was arrested and charged with being drunk in public.

Before we rush to judgement here, I think we should try to consider how this man may have ended up in a stranger’s house, asleep on their couch.

My first thought was that maybe he got stabbed at the game.

Then again, perhaps the man was just drunk and distraught after the Chargers dropped their fourth straight game on Thursday night. I mean, would you want to go out in public in a powder blue Chargers jersey?

Update: We’re now hearing from a source that the man in question was indeed Philip Rivers. According to our source, he returned home from the game last night to find his wife had changed the locks on the front door. Reporters are on hand, however Mrs. Rivers has yet to emerge from the Rivers compound. Carson Palmer was seen leaving the residence earlier this morning but he had no comment for reporters.

If you have been following my writing for the last couple of weeks, here and here, you probably started to notice a trend. Both of those articles were about Todd Haley in some form or fashion. I guess you could say I have developed a man crush on the non-shaving, sweaty hat wearing, Chiefs head coach. However, after four straight wins, which established a tie for first place in the AFC West, these next two games could be the biggest of the season for Haley and the Chiefs.

This weekend, the Miami Dolphins pay a visit to Arrowhead Stadium. The following weekend is divisional game against the Denver Broncos at Arrowhead. While Denver does not appear to be a threat, divisional rivalries rarely play out the way they are supposed to. These next two home games will go a long way in determining the Chiefs success in 2011, and will truly show how well Todd Haley is at motivating his players.

I could watch this all day. Big props to Andy Studebaker for diving in there and digging out the ball.

There is also a lot of hilarious stuff happening in this video. I shall list them below.

Paddy’s List Of Awesome Things Happening In This Video

1. Rivers fumbling the snap

2. Rivers’ legs squirming in the pile as a bunch of heavy men fall on top of his head

3. Andy Studebaker diving on top of the pile and digging through at least three people to find the ball

4. #48 Reshard Langford literally grabbing Studebaker and plucking him from the pile once Studi yelled that he had the ball

More after the jump:

Each week we go “Inside the Enemy Camp” and have a chat with the FanSided editor who covers KC’s next opponent. This week we travel out West to lovely San Diego, California, to talk with Ernie Padon, editor of Bolt Beat.

Bolt Beat may very well be the best Chargers site around. Ernie has been building the place up for over a year now, and it is consistently one of FanSided’s most popular blogs.

We all know the Chiefs face a tall task this Sunday. Let’s go “Inside the Enemy Camp” with Bolt Beat.

I love when Rivers throws tantrums. Has he thrown one yet this season?

That is what our Philip does. He already has had one this season. It actually feels like he has a little one every time he gets into the huddle.

At the end of the half in week 1, we didn’t have a kicker to attempt a field goal so we had to go for it on 4th down and FOREVER. The play didn’t go well and Philip was seen jawing over at Norval on the sideline.

I clipped it out of the highlights just for you all to enjoy:

So all in all it appears that unfortunately I was right about free agency up to this point. No big splashes (unless you count picking up the Cardinals #2 receiver) and a few decent players picked up at bargain prices. According to Scott Pioli he has no set cap for spending from the Hunt family, and basically has free reign to pay for and pick up whoever he wants for the team. Evidently Pioli never saw the movie “Blank Check.”

So either Pioli is lying (or how I’m sure he would justify it telling a “half-truth”) or he really doesn’t see any big free agents that are worth the asking price. At least here the Chiefs are consistent, applying the same mode of thinking that brought the Chiefs Mike Vrabel: Bring in veterans that can play a couple of years to help mentor draft picks until they are ready to take over. I don’t mind that line of thought other than the fact that it makes for a dull free agent market.

Another interesting piece of information from this press conference was that Haley and Pioli had a so called “comprehensive plan” for dealing with free agency. I think we can all agree that nothing that they have done so far appears to be all that comprehensive. During the FA threads it was mentioned that weighing all of the gains and losses that the Chiefs were a worse team this year than last year. Granted that may be true, but the more I think about it the more I think that is not the question we should ask. I think the real question that should be at the forefront of our Addict brain is: Are the Chiefs better than the other AFC West teams?

Each week we talk to the lead blogger from the Fan Sided site of the next team the Kansas City Chiefs are going to beat. This week it is Ernie from over at Bolt Beat, FanSided’s San Diego Chargers blog.

Ernie has done a fantastic job since taking over Bolt Beat and he has really helped to create a fun and competitive atmosphere among the AFC West blogs. He’s always willing to engage in a little friendly trash talk and he reads AA regularly so make sure you stop by Bolt Beat and give him hell.

Now, we go Inside The Enemy Camp with Bolt Beat!

AA: How has Chargers Nation reacted to the news that Cassel may not be able to go?

BB: Oh the football Gods are smiling down on us!!

It gives us extra hope on making it to the playoffs. We no longer control our destiny and every little bit helps. The backup QB Brodie Croyle has no wins as a starter in the NFL and he has only 2 wins of the 17 games he has been in. Of those 2 wins, he threw no passes! If Cassel is out for any amount of time, I like the opportunity that it presents for us.

If Cassel guts it out on the field against us, he will take a BEATING. There are some dirty players in this league and when they smell blood, they go after it.

Have you ever seen Friday the 13th ? In many of the Friday the 13th movies, there is a guy who always tries to warn the would-be campers that they had better turn back or suffer the consequences. The problem is that the guy warning them is never anyone credible like a cop or a scientist. No, he is always the local town crazy, a hobo, drunk or even all three. For some reason, the nut job knows what is going on but his problem is that his is obviously nuts and so the campers spend more time laughing at him then heeding his cryptic advice.

That is how I feel today. I feel like the crazy guy from all the Friday the 13th movies. In particular, I feel like the nut from Friday the 13th VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan. In this movie, a bunch of students are jumping on a boat near Camp Crystal Lake and sailing to New York City. One of the ships mates aka the new crazy guy, somehow knows that Jason is going to be on board and that he is going to do some serious damage.

He corners a couple of kids while they are boarding the boat and exclaims “Dis voyage is doomed! He’s come back and you’re all gonna die!”

If the kids had ever watched a horror movie in their entire lives they’d of high tailed it back to dry land but instead, they merely laugh at the guy and proceed to smoke dope, drink and engage in premarital sex. A recipe for disaster.

The best part of all this is that the crazy dude, after warning everyone not to get on board, ends up sailing on the voyage himself (he IS crazy after all) and ends up with an axe in his back.

So like the crazy guy from Friday the 13th, I am going to try to give you a warning, even if you’ll call me crazy. Even if it will end in disaster no matter what.

Heed my warning, after the jump.

The Kansas City Chiefs will try to knock off the San Diego Chargers this weekend to take complete control of the AFC West but it won’t be easy.

Let’s take a look at 5 things the Chiefs can do to escape San Diego with a win.

1. Confuse, frustrate and pressure Philip Rivers

I hate admitting it bur Rivers is a fantastic QB. With the injuries San Diego has had this season they could very well be a 3 or 4 win team right now but Rivers put the organization on his are back and carried them to a 6-6 record.

The Chargers have some dangerous and talented pieces but Rivers is the key.

When the Chargers came to Arrowhead to open the season, Romeo Crennel rolled out a fantastic game plan. Rivers was frustrated and inaccurate most of the day and while most experts would attribute his struggles to the weather, the Chiefs would prove a few weeks later in Indianapolis that it was Crennel’s scheme that tripped up the San Diego QB.

We saw another example of this Sunday when the Kansas City secondary befuddled Kyle Orton and the Broncos. Orton only completed 9 passes all day and had the Chiefs offense not continually shot themselves in the foot with penalties, the score would not have been nearly as close.

Crennel has a real knack for disguising coverages and blitzes to frustrate highly efficient passers like Rivers and Manning. It appears this strategy leaves the Chiefs vulnerable in their run defense but it can work as long as the Chiefs offense gets going and scores points.

No QB responds well to pressure but Rivers seems to get particularly frustrated as we saw the first time the Chiefs and Chargers played this year. Rivers was visibly angry during that game, throwing tantrums, kicking footballs and yelling at his teammates.

If the Chiefs can get to Rivers their chances will greatly improve.

The Kansas City Chiefs have a chance to eliminate the San Diego Chargers from the race to win the AFC West this Sunday and matters could come down to which team is the most healthy.

Both the Chiefs and the Chargers, like much of the NFL, are dealing with late season injuries to key players. Let’s take a look at the injuries for both teams.

San Diego Chargers

The Chargers have been battling injuries all season long but the arm of QB Philip Rivers has carried the team back to a .500 record.

Darren Sproles

Sproles suffered a concussion in Sunday’s loss to the Okaland Raiders. While the Chargers haven’t made much use of Sproles this year he is still a Dexter McCluster like threat in that when he does get the ball in his hands he is very, very dangerous. If he were to be forced to sit out Sunday it certainly wouldn’t hurt KC’s chances.

Monday Chargers coach Norv Turner reported that Sproles was dealing with a headache Monday but the coach was hoping he would be cleared to play Sunday.

The Monday Night Football contest between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Diego Chargers has all the ingredients for an upset. While you won’t find an expert in his or her right mind that will actually pick the Chiefs to win next Monday night, (hey, it wouldn’t be an upset if they did) there are signs that simply can’t be ignored when trying to forecast this AFC West clash.

Let’s take a look at the factors that could just swing things in favor of the Chiefs.

1. Arrowhead Advantage Returns

In years past, Arrowhead Stadium was one of the most intimidating places to play in the NFL. It was widely believed to be one of the loudest stadiums with the most passionate fans. On top of all that, the Chiefs just didn’t lose there.

Since the team has fallen on hard time, the Arrowhead Advantage has vanished, along with most of the fans. Fed up with multiple losing seasons, the “Sea of Red” has become a “Sea of Empty Red Seats” in recent years.

However, when the Chargers come to town for Monday Night Football, they may feel as though they are stepping back in time to an era where they were in the basement of the AFC West and the mighty Kansas City Chiefs ruled the division.

Yesterday I bowed down to pessimists all over Chiefs Nation and gave you what I thought was the absolute, worst case scenario for the Chiefs 2010 season. It wasn’t pretty. I ruined the day for at least 15 people, made Randy cry and now I hear KC Wolf wants to meet me behind the jungle gym after work.

Yes, it could get bad people. Then again, being the giant Chiefs homer that I am, it could get good. In fact, the more I think about it, the Chiefs could do very, very well this season.

Especially when you consider the best-case scenario.

That and a giant glass of red and gold flavored Kool-aid after the jump.

When discussing what player the Chiefs should consider taking with the 5th overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft we need to consider the talents of the other AFC West teams. After all, the Chiefs play 6 of their 16 games against the Raiders, Chargers and Broncos. If the Chiefs can beat those teams they will greatly increase their chances of making the playoffs.

Right now the San Diego Chargers, for all their flaws, are head and shoulders better than any other team in the division. They have an elite QB in Philip Rivers and two big, physical receivers in Malcom Floyd and Vincent Jackson. They have also spark plug RB with Darren Sproles in the backfield. The Chargers are built very well and they are going to be a force for some time to come, especially on offense.
