The San Diego Chargers have decided to bring back head coach Norv Turner and GM AJ Smith despite yet another disappointing season.

I know that this is an important issue to Chargers fans so I stopped by Bolt Beat, FanSided’s Chargers site to see how the fans over there were taking the news.

Yeah. They’re not taking it well:

Disgusting. I’ve been a fan since the late 70s when Fouts ended his holdout. This team does its best to drive fans away. I rarely get the sense that this franchise does whatever it takes to win a championship. I don’t know how fans can continue to support a team that has less interest in winning than they do. Anyway, this is how ownership repays fan loyalty. At least Gene Klein had ambition!

What do we have to look forward to? Another year of frustration! I hope that everyone who wanted to see Norv and AJ go show the Spanos family their feelings by refusing to buy tickets to the games. It will mean more blackouts but then we’ll get to see some good football in their place!

Head over to Bolt Beat and offer your condolences. Be nice though. Imagine if Pioli had brought back Herm.

Each week we go “Inside the Enemy Camp” and have a chat with the FanSided editor who covers KC’s next opponent. This week we travel out West to lovely San Diego, California, to talk with Ernie Padon, editor of Bolt Beat.

Bolt Beat may very well be the best Chargers site around. Ernie has been building the place up for over a year now, and it is consistently one of FanSided’s most popular blogs.

We all know the Chiefs face a tall task this Sunday. Let’s go “Inside the Enemy Camp” with Bolt Beat.

I love when Rivers throws tantrums. Has he thrown one yet this season?

That is what our Philip does. He already has had one this season. It actually feels like he has a little one every time he gets into the huddle.

At the end of the half in week 1, we didn’t have a kicker to attempt a field goal so we had to go for it on 4th down and FOREVER. The play didn’t go well and Philip was seen jawing over at Norval on the sideline.

I clipped it out of the highlights just for you all to enjoy:

The San Diego Chargers are not going to fire their GM or head coach after another disappointing season.

“I like A.J., even though he’s a bit goofy,” Chargers owner Dean Spanos told the San Diego Union-Tribune. “I trust him. He’ll tell you he’s made mistakes. Who hasn’t? But he takes chances. Sometimes you lose the bet, but if you’re going to win a world championship, you’ve got to take chances. I learned that from my father in our business. A.J.’s committed 100 percent to this organization.”

Chargers GM A.J. Smith also told the San Diego Union-Tribune that head coach Norv Turner would be back next year.

I just don’t get the Chargers. I understand why that they want continuity but I am not so sure I could hand with Smith and Turner.

Smith basically hamstrung the Chargers this year by trying to be a hardass in refusing to pay Vincent Jackson and Marcus McNiel. I am not saying that things would have turned out differently for the Chargers had McNiel and Jackson been with the team all season but having those guys certainly wouldn’t have hurt San Diego’s chances.

As for Turner, you could argue that he is a total failure as a coach. All we ever hear about is how talented the Chargers roster is yet they continuously underachieve and they never seem to be ready to play at the beginning of the season. Aren’t head coaches supposed to make sure their players are prepared and play smart? The Chargers made bungle after bungle all year long and you can’t help but wonder how a team could be so continuously stupid if they were well coached. And don’t give me the young players excuse either. The Chiefs have plenty of young players and while they made mistakes this season, they played very smart football from day one and it was obvious how well coached they were.

The fact of the matter is, the Chargers seem to be getting worse as opposed to better. I mean the Chargers had one of the easiest schedules in the NFL this year and they are a mere game over .500. They have a boat load of talent and probably the 3rd or 4th best QB in the NFL. The Chargers should have won at least 12 games this season. Yet they are missing the playoffs.

If the talent is there and the schedule is easy then who is to blame other than the guys in charge?

Yesterday I bowed down to pessimists all over Chiefs Nation and gave you what I thought was the absolute, worst case scenario for the Chiefs 2010 season. It wasn’t pretty. I ruined the day for at least 15 people, made Randy cry and now I hear KC Wolf wants to meet me behind the jungle gym after work.

Yes, it could get bad people. Then again, being the giant Chiefs homer that I am, it could get good. In fact, the more I think about it, the Chiefs could do very, very well this season.

Especially when you consider the best-case scenario.

That and a giant glass of red and gold flavored Kool-aid after the jump.
