According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Miami Dolphins are prepared to meet Branden Albert’s asking price if the Kansas City Chiefs will agree to trade the LT to the Dolphins.

But the Chiefs may not agree to do so.

According to Rapoport, while Miami has no problem paying Albert, they do have a problem with what the Chiefs are asking in return for the trade.

From RotoWorld:

“I’m told the Dolphins do not have a problem with that,” Rapoport said of Albert’s price tag. “I know some people are saying different. I’m told they don’t have a problem with it.” Per Rapoport, Albert wants “Duane Brown money” — not Jake Long money. Brown signed a six-year, $53.4 million extension last August, with $22.08 million guaranteed. It sounds like the Chiefs will send Albert to the Dolphins if the sides agree to trade terms. Miami has two second-rounders, but would prefer to part with No. 54 rather than 42.

Interesting. There have been other reports floating about that the Chiefs and Dolphins have agreed to trade terms and that it was Albert’s contract demands that are the hangup.

I am not sure what to think here. After all, the Dolphins let Jake Long walk because they didn’t want to pay him. Now we are supposed to believe they are willing to trade a pick and pay Branden Albert a very expensive contract?

Rapoport elaborated on Twitter.

From TA: My understanding is #Dolphins are willing to meet Branden Albert’s contract demands of similar $$ to Duane Brown. Waiting on KC

— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) April 22, 2013

Real question is what it has been: Are #Chiefs getting enough for Branden Albert? Is No. 54 from Miami enough? KC making everyone wait

— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) April 22, 2013

Need to redo Albert’s contract too. Big $$ RT @kevinmolina85: @rapsheet: If it takes 2nd rd pick why aren’t DET (36) or ARI (38) on with KC?

— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) April 22, 2013

KC wanted a 2 and a 7 originally. Have come down from there RT @d2moo @rapsheet Maybe Chiefs want a 2 and a lower pick too.2 and a 5 or 6

— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) April 22, 2013

So according to Rapoport, everyone is waiting on the Chiefs. I assume “everyone” is the Dolphins and the Albert camp. It sounds like the Dolphins have put the 5th overall pick on the table and the Chiefs are staunchly demanding the 42nd pick instead.

If that is the case, then I see this deal getting done fairly soon. The Chiefs and Dolphins are essentially playing chicken here and at some point one of them is going to blink.

This is a pretty deep draft so I can understand the Chiefs wanting to get as high up int he second round as possible. Similarly, I can understand why Miami would want to hang on to No. 42.

Clearly the Chiefs and Dolphins are talking and clearly there is some misinformation beng put out there.

What do you think, Addicts?

The Miami Dolphins will appear on HBO’s much-loved show Hard Knocks this season.

The Kansas City Chiefs once appeared on the hit show, which shows a behind the scenes look at an NFL team going through training camp.

The Dolphins are obviously desperate for any kind of publicity. The team has had a lot of trouble winning and as a result, they’ve had an even harder time filling their stadium. The organization is likely hoping that the excitement over the team’s decision to draft QB Ryan Tannehill, combined with the exposure they’ll garner from the television show, will help bring the fans back out to the stadium.

I didn’t have HBO back when the Chiefs were on Hard Knocks but I was able to catch the replays once I got DIRECTV last August. I’m not sure how many of you have watched the show since it originally aired, but boy, is it painful to watch. Almost all of the players and coaches featured on the show are long gone. The team was terrible. So, so terrible.

One of the stars of the show was WR prospect Bobby Sippio who never amounted to anything in the NFL and was recently arrested for kidnapping and attempted murder.

Hard knocks, indeed.

Are you going to watch the Dolphins on HBO this summer?

The King is back baby.

Our old friend Carl “The King” Peterson helped the Miami Dolphins interview former Titans head coach Jeff Fisher, according to the Florida Sun Sentinel.

Carl Peterson, the former Kansas City football czar and long-time friend of Dolphins owner Steve Ross, is involved in the interviewing of the new Dolphins head coach, two sources said on Tuesday.

Peterson stepped off the helicopter that landed at Dolphins headquarters in Davie with Ross and candidate Jeff Fisher, the sources said.

King Carl is often linked to the Dolphins because of his relationship with Ross. It seems just about every year there is a report that The King is going to take over in South Beach as the team’s GM.

This incident could just be Carl helping out his boy in a consultant role, or it could be the beginning of another reign of terror.

What say ye, former subjects of The King?

It was a painful Christmas weekend for the Chiefs and their fans. Hope was high when the day began and even later, the best outcome seemed highly possible: everything was falling into place—if only Kansas City could pull out a win at home. But a failed field-goal attempt at the end of regulation meant overtime and ultimately, one big play and a relatively short field goal—and the Chiefs were officially out of the playoffs.

Hard to believe it was 40 years ago.

Wait. What? Which game were you watching?

Yes, one day after the Raiders defeated the Chiefs in overtime, for their fifth straight win at Arrowhead*, I found myself masochistically sitting through another heartbreaking Chiefs loss in overtime. Double overtime.

*The last time that had happened at Arrowhead? It hadn’t.

I’ve written before about my joy in reliving past Chiefs glory that I was not living to enjoy in the first place. On Sunday, I almost too eagerly took the chance to experience some of the pain I wasn’t yet born* to appreciate, either: The NFL Network had cobbled together some never-before-rebroadcast archival footage for an hour-long special commemorating “The Longest Game Ever,” Kansas City’s 1971 division playoff against the Miami Dolphins, which was—spoiler alert!—the longest game ever, lasting well into its second overtime before—double spoiler alert—Kansas City succumbed 27-24 on a Garo Yepremian field goal.

*Though, as I indirectly explained to my daughter, the game plays a role in my being born:

[There is] a story I like to repeat, though I most definitely was not there: On December 25, 1971, [your grandmother] was watching the historic Chiefs-Dolphins divisional playoff, which I’m sure you know is still the longest game in NFL history (that’s why it’s historic!). When the game went into a second overtime, she had to choose whether or not to leave to go on a scheduled date with your grandfather. She went. This started a process—one that, I hope, your own mother will be the one to explain to you in several years—that eventually resulted in me.

In fact, when my father came to pick up my mom, it was the first time he had ever met his future in-laws, who were visiting—and at that moment glued to the TV. They would claim, jokingly—though we were never sure how much so—that they couldn’t remember meeting him that day.

Though it is part of my own family’s lore, I had never known all the little details and dramas of that day—an unseasonably 63-degree Christmas Day, which was seen as an ominous sign against a team from south Florida. The players were somewhat bummed to be playing on Christmas, an NFL first, though Len Dawson reminds viewers that many were just happy to be playing for an extra paycheck in an era when football salaries didn’t always make ends meet (Bobby Bell was working full time for General Motors—being an all-Pro linebacker for the Chiefs was merely his second job).

In the end, it would come down to the kickers. Miami’s Garo Yepremian, who looks not unlike Wallace Shawn as Vizzini in The Princess Bride, was “the smallest man in professional football,” and had spent the previous two years selling his own line of neckties. Jan Stenerud, meanwhile, was “not just a kicker, but also an athlete”—no offense, kickers—who revolutionized the position as the first dominant soccer-style kicker,* and is still the only “pure kicker” voted into the Pro-Football Hall of Fame. In fact, this game featured 15 future Hall-of-Famers (12 on the field, both head coaches, and one beloved owner). Statistically, though, the game belonged to the unlikely Ed Podolak, whose 350 all-purpose yards set an NFL playoff record that still stands.

*Have you seen the straight-ahead style kickers used to use? It’s amazing they ever made a field goal from more than 10 yards away.

However, the game would be most remembered for how the foremost kicker in the league turned into the Lin Elliot of his day, if only for one day. Stenerud missed two field goals, including a potential game-winner near the end of regulation, and had another attempt blocked in overtime. Yepremian also missed, but not twice. Eighty-two minutes and 40 seconds after the game began (according to the game clock), the short, bald former tie-maker unmade this tie with a 37-yard field goal, and the favored Chiefs were out. Inconceivable!

The Kansas City Chiefs can’t rush the passer.

That is a fact.

Tyson Jackson goes out and Allen Bailey comes in on passing downs. Wallace Gilberry comes in too!

That…is speculation.

We got into a bit of a debate yesterday about the Chiefs’ pass rush and how to fix it. AA senior staff writer Big Matt suggested that the team needed more Wallace Gilberry and less Tyson Jackson and Glenn Dorsey. As the debate wore on, folks seemed to be getting confused as to who is on the field when.

It’s understandable. The Chiefs use more substitution packages than Matt Cassel uses cliché phrases in press conferences!

So what is really going on? Who is on the field for how many snaps? Who is rushing the passer and who is dropping into coverage?

We’ll use Pro Football Focus to find out. After the jump.

U. G. L. Y. You ain’t got no alibi, you ugly, yeah yeah you UGLY! Look it would be easy to take a total doom and gloom approach after that game because it was in fact very, very, ugly. Was it horrible? Yes. Did it look WAY too much like the first two games of the season at times? Yes. Does it mean that the Chiefs are back to being one of the worst teams in the NFL again? No. Just last week the Saints lost to the winless Rams. It happens. It is definitely a disappointment though and makes the odds of the Chiefs pulling off a playoff birth or division title that much smaller.

Can you come up with reasons (excuses) as to why the Chiefs lost? Sure. The Chiefs were on a short week. The Chiefs were coming off a very emotional overtime win. The Chiefs were coming off back to back physical division games. The Chiefs were missing two DBs in Arenas and McGraw and their replacements were exploited. Are all of those things true? Yes.

So that means this loss was the result of a one time set of circumstances and we don’t need to worry about this happening again, right? Ummm….No.

I would guess that the title of this piece is probably a pretty big clue that I think there is a larger problem (or problems) at play. In my opinion this loss was not about short weeks or the huge hole left by an injured Jon McGraw (yes, that was sarcasm). See on paper (not looking at records) the Chiefs and Dolphins actually looked like a pretty even match up. The difference between the two had been that the Dolphins had found ways to lose games and the Chiefs had found ways to win some.

So how were the Dolphins able to dominate the Chiefs on their own home field?

Simple, the Dolphins sacked, pressured, knocked down, and harassed Matt Cassel all day long and Matt Moore’s jersey probably didn’t even need washed after the game. That was the difference.

Don’t think it’s that cut and dry? More after the break.

In a loss like the Chiefs suffered yesterday, it can be hard to pick out individual failures simply because the entire team played so poorly it is almost unfair to single any one thing out.

Then again, it wasn’t exactly fair that we all had to spend our afternoon watching that sorry excuse for football so I’m going to do it anyway.

Join me Addicts and let’s wash away the bitter with a little blame placing.

Trying to predict what the 2011 Kansas City Chiefs are going to do next is just about as futile as trying to determine if Donald Trump’s hair is combed straight down and then back or just back.

We like things to be easy to understand, particularly in sports and particularly in sports media. The Patriots and Steelers are going to be good every year. Tom Brady and Peyton Manning are the league’s best QB’s. The Browns and Bengals will consistently stink.

Yet every year, there are a few stories that buck the norm and the media spends most of the season turning them into the stories of the year. What is wrong with Philip Rivers? Will Peyton Manning ever play football again? The Bengals are supposed to be our season long punch line, what gives?

The Kansas City Chiefs will look to push their winning streak to five games today when the Miami Dolphins pay a visit to Arrowhead Stadium. The Chiefs will look to avoid a letdown. Though they are favored, they are coming off an emotional overtime victory over the San Diego Chargers on Monday Night Football.

The short week, combined with winless Miami’s desperation to finally win, makes this the perfect trap game for the Chiefs.

Will the Chiefs rise to the challenge or will their win-streak stop at four? Let’s see what the Arrowhead Addict staff thinks.

Patrick Allen

Chiefs 28, Dolphins 16

The Chiefs are too well coached to choke heading into this game. This team has shown great resolve and now that they are back in first place I just don’t see them taking their foot off the gas vs. the Dolphins. KC’s defense will be too much for Miami.

Ladner Morse

Chiefs 17, Miami 13

This turns out to be a closer game than many may want it to be. The Chiefs and Dolphins defenses are ranked 22 and 23 respectively. The Dolphins defense has been very good at times, just like the Chiefs. The difference in this game will be the Chiefs offense and the challenge for the Dolphins offense that is known as Arrowhead. Go Chiefs! Go 12th man… and woman!

Merlin

Chiefs 28, Dolphins 21

The Dolphins are better than their record and the Chiefs are coming off a short week and an emotional, division win.

Lyle Graversen

Chiefs 27 Dolphins 13

The Chiefs defense has started to play like at a high level and they are too much for the Matt Moore led Dolphins today. The defense sets the offense up with a couple of turnovers and the combination of Jackie Battle running the ball and Matt Cassel getting the ball to his trio of WRs is enough to put Miami away.

Victor Wishna

Chiefs 31, Dolphins 17

There, but for the grace of Todd… Yes, after Week Two or Three, Chiefs fans might have thought we’d be the ones facing 0-7 at this point in the season. And in the first half of today’s contest with winless Miami, all the concerns that this is a “trap” game for the resurgent Chiefs will seem valid; after a poor offensive first half, the score may even be tied at the break. But Cassel will get most of his yards in the final two quarters as the Chiefs pull away.

Fantasy Football week nine is about to get underway. Fantasy races are heating up as we inch closer and closer to the playoffs.

If you are looking for some sneaky plays for this week’s game, the Kansas City Chiefs may have a number of players that could put up big fantasy days vs. the Dolphins.

Matt Cassel

Matt Cassel is getting more and more comfortable with his new receiving options. This will be his third straight week having Jon Baldwin in the lineup with Steve Breaston and Dwayne Bowe. On top of that, the Dolphins defense ranks 13th in the league against the run. If the Dolphins shut down the KC run game, look for Cassel to air it out.

Cassel doesn’t usually put up huge numbers but he takes care of the football. If you are in a tight spot, you could do worse than Cassel.

More after the jump.

If you have been following my writing for the last couple of weeks, here and here, you probably started to notice a trend. Both of those articles were about Todd Haley in some form or fashion. I guess you could say I have developed a man crush on the non-shaving, sweaty hat wearing, Chiefs head coach. However, after four straight wins, which established a tie for first place in the AFC West, these next two games could be the biggest of the season for Haley and the Chiefs.

This weekend, the Miami Dolphins pay a visit to Arrowhead Stadium. The following weekend is divisional game against the Denver Broncos at Arrowhead. While Denver does not appear to be a threat, divisional rivalries rarely play out the way they are supposed to. These next two home games will go a long way in determining the Chiefs success in 2011, and will truly show how well Todd Haley is at motivating his players.

The Kansas City Chiefs will look for their fifth straight win this Sunday when the winless Miami Dolphins come to Arrowhead Stadium. On paper, it might look like the Chiefs should breeze through this game but in the NFL, no opponent is an easy out.

To help you get ready for Sunday’s game, I sat down with Brian Miller of Phin Phanatic, FanSided’s award-winning Dolphins site. I can quite honestly say PP is the best Miami Dolphins site on the planet. It is also one of the most popular FanSided NFL sites, as well as one of the most popular FanSided sites period. Brian was actually the network’s first writer! He’s been around and he’s been one of the best for a long time.

Phin Phanatic has a thriving community and I highly, highly suggest you drop by and respectfully talk shop (and maybe a little bit of trash) with them.

Now, let’s go Inside the Enemy Camp with Phin Phanatic!

Andrew Luck. You guys obviously have a legit shot at the #1 pick. Some fans really hate the idea of losing to win. Where do you stand on the issue?

Personally, I can’t root against the Dolphins and I think that despite what some fans will say they can’t either. With that being said, I also can not root for below mediocre play. The Dolphins this year haven’t shown much heart or desire to really go out and win and if they can’t play to win, I can’t root for that play. I know it sounds like I’m sitting on both sides of the fence but I want Miami to win a game that they go out and play to win not win simply because the other team made more mistakes. In other words, winning 3-0 isn’t going to cut it and I would rather have a shot at Andrew Luck.

The Kansas City Chiefs will look to avoid a letdown when the winless Miami Dolphins come to Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday. This has all the makings of a classic “trap game” for the Chiefs. The Dolphins are winless and desperate and the Chiefs are on a short week, coming off an emotional win vs. a division rival on Monday Night Football. If finally climbing back into first place causes the Chiefs to relax and take their foot off the gas, the struggling Dolphins could get their first win of the season.

For the Chiefs to move their winning streak to five games, their playmakers will have to step up and make sure their team takes care of the inferior Dolphins. Here are five players to watch for Sunday’s game.

Matt Cassel

Matt Cassel didn’t have an incredible game statistically speaking against the Chargers, but he lead key drives in key moments and also made a few clutch throws to help his team get the victory. Cassel also made a few mistakes, including an ill-timed interception at the end of regulation.

Cassel may never put up consistently impressive numbers, but he has shown a knack for helping his team win and more importantly, he avoids causing his team to lose. The fact of the matter is, at the end of the Chargers game, both QBs got a shot to lead their team on a game-winning drive, and it was Cassel who got the job done.

If Cassel can continue to play smart, relatively mistake-free football, the Chiefs should win this game easily.

I’ve seen a lot of great football in my short life so far, but I sure wish I was alive on Christmas Day, 1971, to see the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Miami Dolphins at Municipal Stadium in Kansas City.

The 1969 Chiefs won Super Bowl IV but the 1970 Chiefs won only seven games in their first season in the NFL. In 1971, however, the team bounced back and went 10-3-1 on their way to the AFC West title. They still had most of the players from their 1969 Super Bowl victory and head coach Hank Stram considered the 1971 squad to be the best he ever coached. All of this set up the playoff game on Christmas Day that would end up being a major turning point for Lamar Hunt’s franchise.

The day was special from the start. It was as if the Dolphins had brought the Miami weather to Kansas City with them. When the game kicked off at 3 PM (CST) the temperature on the field was 62 degrees.

Things started off great for the Chiefs. Kicker Jan Stenerud nailed a 25-yard field goal and QB Len Dawson connected with Ed Podolak for a 7-yard touchdown pass. The Chiefs were up 10-0 at the end of the first. The Dolphins, however, had no intention of going down without a fight. Lead by RB Larry Czonka, the Dolphins stormed back to tie the game at 10 before the half.

The teams kept things even in the 3rd quarter by exchanging TD’s. In the 4th, Podolak continued his stellar day by finding the endzone on a 3-yard run to give the Chiefs the lead. The Dolphins and QB Bob Griese countered with 5-yard TD pass to TE to tie the game late in the 4th.

The kickoff following the the Griese TD pass is when things would start getting crazy for the Chiefs. The kick was fielded by Ed Podolak, who already had two TD’s on the day. Podolak took the kick all the way back to the Miami 22-yardline. With 35-seconds left, Jan Stenerud, who was 1 of 2 on the day, came onto the field to attempt a 32-yard FG to essentially give the Chiefs the win. Unfortunately for Stram and the Chiefs, Stenerud missed the kick.

We’re going to OT, right?

Not so fast.

This is a cool story. I would love to see Thigpen perfect his mechanics and make it in the league. He was a lot of fun to watch and he was one of the only things that made the 2008 season bearable.

From The Daily Dolphin:

“When I came in last year, right from the first day I came out to practice, coach Lee was like, Have you ever gotten any coaching from a quarterback coach?” Thigpen said Friday morning while warming up for a round of golf as part of Fins Weekend at Fairmont Turnberry Isle in Aventura.

“He was telling me I had so much more to work on in regard to my fundamentals. When I came in at midseason last year he didn’t have time to work with me. So he’d come over before practices and say, ‘Hey, work on this today.’ So I had to learn on the fly.

“So when you’ve got bad habits, and you don’t get a whole lot of time to practice them, you’re going to continue to revert back to those habits. But I’ve had time this offseason to work on my fundamentals each and every day I’ve been out there, so it’s helped me out a lot.”

Damn it! I am going to reserve full judgment here until I find out the details of the trade and what the 49ers gave up but if it is a 5th or less, the Chiefs are going to feel my wrath.

Eh, screw it. Jay Glazer is reporting it is that it was a late round pick and I am guessing a 5th or a 6th here.

What in the heck were the Chiefs thinking? Ginn’s problems with drops aside, he is worth a 5th as a kick returner alone. I don’t want to totally nail Scott Pioli on this because I don’t know his master plan but for heavens sake, this guy was there for the taking!

The only decent return man the Chiefs had last season was Jamaal Charles and KC can’t afford to be putting him back there now that he is their lead back.

Why miss out on a chance to add an 25 year old, explosive return man with something to prove when you have absolutely NO depth at WR? I just don’t get it.

I hope Pioli has some big plans for those 5th round picks.

Note: If it turns out the 49ers gave up a 4th for Ginn, I will retract this post.

In a Tweet earlier Jason La Canfora of NFL.com tweeted that the Miami Dolphins are shopping former 9th overall pick, Ted Ginn Jr.

If this is indeed true, the Chiefs need to make a call.

Ginn was taken in the first round by the Miami Dolphins in the 2007 Draft. He processes blazing speed and was originally recruited to Ohio State by the track coach who thought he could help Ginn qualify for the Olympics.

In his 2nd season with the Dolphins, Ginn was made a starter at WR and finished the year with 56 catches for 790 yards and 2 touchdowns, 32 kick returns for 657 yards and 7 punt returns for 54 yards. He also had 2 rushing touchdowns.

Not long ago we gave you the heads up that our old friend “King” Carl Peterson was spotted at the NFL league meetings in Orlando. I suggested at the time that the “King” might be looking for a job, possibly with the Miami Dolphins, as he has been linked as a possible successor to Bill Parcells.

Well it looks like more fuel is being thrown on that fire, at least according to Pro Football Talk:

Per a league source, Peterson and Ross were seen together on numerous occasions, with Dolphins G.M. Jeff Ireland and coach Tony Sparano rarely in sight. It has long been believed that Ross will hire Peterson once current V.P. of football operations Bill Parcells leaves.

The source believes that Ireland and/or Sparano could be in trouble if Peterson is hired, given that Peterson would become the G.M. — and the possibility that he would want to hire his own coach.

It may still be possible that Peterson is simply friendly with Ross and is at the meetings because of his duties as the Chairman of USA Football. Still, I wouldn’t be shocked to see Carl Peterson back in the NFL sooner rather than later. After all, it took him 20 years to leave KC. One doesn’t usually stay in a job that long unless he likes it. I bet Peterson’s time away has given him the itch again.

Maybe Karlos Dansby has a hot spot in South Florida that he likes.

Maybe it’s a vacation to the Miami area that has been planned for some time.

Maybe it’s both.

The word the National Football Post picked up this afternoon is that the linebacker, who will become a free agent in a little less than eight hours, is boarding a plane for the Miami area in, well, a little less than eight hours.

That would be a convenient trip with the Miami Dolphins long rumored to be one of the leading candidates for Dansby’s services. He’s been angling for a way to reach the open market for some time and will finally make it this year as the Cardinals elected not to place the franchise tag on him.

Dansby fits what the Dolphins need and Miami general manager Jeff Ireland pretty much summed that up last week at the scouting combine in Indianapolis without using Dansby’s name.

Well crap. Pioli better get on the horn!

From Sun-Sentinel.com:

According to an NFL source, the Miami Dolphins have made a very conservative offer to their only restricted free agent: tight end Anthony Fasano.

The Dolphins have tendered Fasano at $1.176 million and his original draft position, which was the second round out of Notre Dame in 2006 with the Cowboys.

For an additional $1.345 million — a total 2010 salary of $2.521 million — the Dolphins could have forced any team that tried to sign him away to fork over a 2010 first-round pick. The original-round approach leaves Fasano open to being poached by one of a number of teams that could use a tight end upgrade.

Potential suitors include: the Bills and Patriots within the AFC East, and the Bengals, Browns, Broncos and Chiefs elsewhere in the conference. The Panthers, Cardinals and Rams have also been mentioned as teams in need of a tight end.

The Chiefs recently hired Charlie Weis, who coached Fasano with the Fighting Irish, as their offensive coordinator. The only two-touchdown game of Fasano’s NFL career came in December 2008 at Kansas City.

Wow, the news is coming out so fast I can hardly keep up. What do you think, Addicts? Fasano for the 2 we got for Tony G?

Remember my last mock when I suggested the Rams would take Clausen, a QB at #1? Remember when you all said I should have my head examined? Who’s laughing now, eh? I might have had the QB wrong but I wasn’t insane to suggest that the Rams might pass on Suh and take a signal caller.

I also suggested that the Bills might trade up with the Chiefs to aquire Sam Bradford. I was called daft for that as well. Not so crazy these days, is it?

OK, gloating aside, there were also plenty of things I was off base about. But hey, that is the fun of doing these things, no? I hope you enjoy reading these mocks as much as we enjoy coming up with them.

Each mock inevitably brings in new readers that are fans of other teams. To those folks I say welcome to Arrowhead Addict. We are happy to have you. Please, however, keep in mind that this is a Chiefs site, so if we get your teams pick wrong, chilax. Remember, this is all make-believe. I suggest, if you are going to comment, tell us what you think your team should do and add to the discussion, instead of wasting a perfectly thoughts in favor calling me a moron and declaring this the worst mock draft since Mel Kiper’s hair started looking ridiculous. Cheers!

Different QB, same result. If the Rams were watching the playoffs last year and I know they were because they sure weren’t in them, they saw the caliber of QB it takes to succeed in the NFL. Manning, Brees, Favre, Rivers, Brady. There were some injury concerns about Bradford but those appear to be waning. He absolutely dazzled folks at the Combine with his size and character. Granted, he didn’t throw but unless his arm falls off at the shoulder at his pro day, this kid has a very big chance of going #1.

Lion’s defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham must be bursting with glee at the prospect of Bradford going #1. Last I heard, he anointed two armed guards to follow Bradford everywhere he goes and Cunningham himself, is giving Bradford daily shoulder massages and is waiting on the QB hand and foot to help him relax for his pro day. That scream of glee you hear when the Rams draft Bradford, that will be Cunningham.

This choice will be pretty automatic for Tampa. They would probably rather trade back (who wouldn’t) but it isn’t going to happen. Their only hope is that some QB desperate team freaks and goes all in to get Clausen out of fear that the Redskins will take him. I just don’t think it will happen. #3 is really high to trade up. The earliest trade I think we will see is at #5 with KC but you never know.

I am baffled when I see mock drafts that have the redskins picking a LT like Okung here to protect Jason Campbell. That is like trying to convince Jamarcus Russel to show up to camp thinner than Tom Cable. It ain’t gonna happen. Old rat face made his bacon in Denver by somehow creating a running game out of thin air with any HB who happen to be standing on his sideline. He took an entire offensive line cast off by the Browns and made them decent. No, I have changed my mind on this. Shanahan is not going to roll with Jason Campell. I wouldn’t put it past Shanni to pull a fast one and snatch up Chad Pennington for a year to have him run a bootleg extravaganza but I think if Clausen is there he is going to take him and get to work on terrorizing the NFC.

According to FootballCoachScoop.com, Chiefs linebackers coach Gary Gibbs is expected to interview for the vacant defensive coordinator position with the Miami Dolphins.

Last we heard Gibbs was supposed to be staying on the Chiefs staff. This would be an upward career move for Gibbs so I would not be surprised if he is interested. Teams usually don’t prevent assistant coaches from advancing their careers so if Gibbs would indeed be offered the job, I would expect Scott Pioli would let him go. We’ll keep a eye on this story as it develops.

I am not a happy camper after reading this. From ESPN:

The Miami Dolphins on Friday signed right tackle Vernon Carey to a six-year contract.

Of Miami’s five unrestricted free agents, Carey and safety Yeremiah Bell were the most significant. The Dolphins on Thursday opted not to place the franchise tag on either of them, increasing the likelihood they would hit the open market on Feb. 27.

But the Dolphins locked up Carey less than 24 hours later.

Carey, the 19th overall selection in the 2004 draft, has started 59 straight games for the Dolphins.

So much for the Chiefs going after Vernon Carey. Thanks a lot, Dolphins. Nice aqua and coral unis. Is this Project Runway or the NFL? Yes, I’m getting my hate on. Not happy. Not at all.

10. Chad Henne‘s got more chin than Chinatown (thanks, Weird Al). I bet he hated Me, Myself and Irene, given that plump, juicy ass he has underneath his lips. Seriously, did they have to special order his chinstrap or what?

9. Our running back daydreams about TDs–not OZs. But maybe Ricky Williams has turned over a new leaf? Bad joke, I know, I know.

8. Sure, he’s smart, but Chad Pennington‘s arm is about as strong as Sticky Icky Ricky’s will power.

7. Tony Sparano? Who in the hell is that? Oh yeah, the guy James Gandolfini played on HBO.

6. Now, keep a straight face…real men where Aqua and Coral!

5. You gotta love a team that picks Ted Ginn 14 picks ahead of Dwayne Bowe.

4. Boomer Grigsby is starting for you guys? The only starting position he ever had with the Chiefs was as Jared Allen‘s caddy. Drunken buffoon of a caddy, I might add.

3. Damion McIntosh and Patrick Surtain have been poor investments, but at least they weren’t five-game rentals like Trent Green.

2. Dan Marino ain’t got jack on Lenny Dawson, both when it comes to Super Bowls and broadcasting. Meltdown anyone?

1. Tuna gets old real quick. It starts to smell after a while.

I was surprised to think that football odds are even out right now, but I had to look at the Chiefs‘ odds. At first, I noticed that we were the second lowest team in the league with 100/1 odds (the Falcons were the worst with 125/1).

Then I kept looking around and found one more team with those odds and it was the Oakland Raiders. I was surprised to see that both teams shared something in common, “Most Likely Top Three Draft Pick” in the 2009 NFL Draft. Even teams like the Miami Dolphins, San Francisco 49ers, Arizona Cardinals, and many more had better odds. Seriously people, the Miami Dolphins? I would prepare myself for a long and “growing” season with the Chiefs.

Here are the complete odds:
