If you haven’t heard yet, teams other than the Kansas City Chiefs are picking in the 2011 NFL Draft. In fact, those teams play a very important role in the Chiefs’ draft since the Chiefs don’t pick in the top 5 this year. Who the 20 teams before us pick can have a significant impact on who we draft. So, for those wondering why I don’t think AJ Green or Julio Jones will be there for us at 21, take a look at one way I see the first round of the Draft going.

The Kansas City Chiefs took care of their home field Sunday and spanked the Jaguars 42 to 20. There were great performances all over the field for the Chiefs so giving out game balls to only three players is going to be tough but I’ll do my best.

Offense:

Dwayne Bowe

This one was tough because both Matt Cassel and Thomas Jones had nice games but Dwayne Bowe came up with two huge plays that helped hold off the Jaguars.

Bowe had two touchdown passes and both were equally impressive. The first was his second catch and run touchdown in as many weeks. Bowe reeled in a pass from Matt Cassel and then broke three tackles on his way to the endzone.

Bowe’s second touchdown came on a beautifully designed fade route where WR Terrence Copper threw an “incidental pick” on the man covering Bowe. Matt Cassel’s throw was just a tad high but Bowe went up, caught it, tucked it, turned his body and got both feet down for the score.

On the day Bowe had three catches for 83 yards and two touchdowns. He is very deserving of this game ball.

Honorable Mentions:

Thomas Jones, Matt Cassel and Terry Copper for climbing the ladder and making his only catch of the game a beautiful one for a first down.

The Kansas City Chiefs have suffered a couple of questionable pass interference calls in their last two games.

Actually, if I can be frank, the Chiefs have suffered from three TERRIBLE pass interference calls. Honestly, the league should be sending the Chiefs a fruit basket or something because their terrible officials have really worked over the Chiefs corner backs the last two weeks.

It started with a PI call on Brandon Flowers in Houston that wasn’t PI at all. It continued today with two more mogus PI calls on Brandon Carr and Eric Berry.

Chiefs coach Todd Haley talked a little bit about the officials following today’s game.

The Kansas City Chiefs will be taking on the Jacksonville Jaguars today at Arrowhead Stadium.

While optimism is high that the Chiefs should be able to handle a wounded Jaguars team at home, Todd Haley’s players had better not get too comfortable.

The Chiefs haven’t won a football game in a month. Their last victory came on September 26th over the San Fransisco 49ers. It was also the last time the Chiefs were at Arrowhead.

As we approach kickoff, it is time for our weekly prediction thread. After the jump, I’ll offer up five predictions for today’s game.

This may come as a surprise to most of you as the experts have not been very fond of the Kansas City Chiefs in weeks past but this week at least, the Chiefs are the popular pick.

All of ESPN’s experts, save a delusional Ron Jaworski, are picking the Chiefs to beat the Jaguars this Sunday.

This is a big change as the Chiefs, despite starting the season 3-0, have been underdogs all season.

I guess I can kind of see the logic. The Chargers deserved to be favored in Week 1. They were the defending AFC Champs and were facing a Chiefs team that had finished 4-12 the year before.

Week 2 saw the Chiefs going to Cleveland to take on the Browns, a team that had beaten them a few months earlier. Folks still weren’t sold on the Chiefs and gave the Browns the home field advantage.

More after the jump.

Still the Chiefs must be careful. Banged up or not, the Jasonville Jaguars are still an NFL team and they have the weapons to do some damage. Let’s take a look at 5 keys to beating the Jaguars.

Things are not going well for the Jacksonville Jaguars and that is a good thing for the Kansas City Chiefs.

After gaining plenty of momentum by winning two straight, beating the Indianapolis Colts and the Buffalo Bills, the Jaguars got absolutely spanked in front of a national audience on Monday Night Football. To make things worse, starting QB David Garrard suffered a concussion and backup Trent Edwards hurt his thub.

Neither Garrard or Edwards practiced Tuesday and so the Jags signed QB Todd Bouman.

So which QB will the Chiefs face on Sunday?

In a recent article on SFGate.com, home of the San Francisco Chronicle, David White reported that Raiders have been offered the opportunity to trade out of the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft.

Citing an unnamed source, White claims that an unnamed team offered the Raiders their 2010 second round pick and their 2011 first round pick for the 8th pick in this years draft. Remember, the Raiders foolishly traded away their 2011 first round pick to the New England Patriots for Richard Seymour. Taking this deal would move the team out of the first round this year but would give them two 2nd round selections. The extra 2nd rounder should be attractive to the Raiders as it is being reported that they may offer their current 2nd round pick to the Eagles for QB Donnovan McNabb. Essentially, if the Raiders were to take the deal and trade for McNabb, they would have acquired Richard Seymour and Donnovan McNabb for a 2010 first round pick. Not too shabby, eh?

It looks like Jaguars WR Matt Jones is going to eventually get cut. Considering his intangibles and Jacksonville’s anemic passing game over the years, why wouldn’t we take a chance on the big, speedy project? Before you scoff, remember Eddie Kennison, a bust before he donned the Red and Gold. I think Jones would be a good fit for Chan Gailey and the Chiefs‘ ball control offense. I’m not saying he’s T.O. or even D-Bo by any means, but he still has tremendous upside potential (or TUP to NBA fans, you’ll hear that phrase a ton with the NBA Draft approaching).

From Jacksonville.com:

It’s still early, but the way receivers Troy Williamson and Mike Walker have been performing for the Jaguars this spring, the often-injured Matt Jones is going to need an eye-opening training camp to make the roster. Jones’ toughest hurdle is he won’t get the same benefit of doubt from the coaching staff that he received in the past.

From Arkansas Sports 360 (about the Cowboys looking at him):

But here are some numbers that would certainly justify taking a long look at Jones: 6-6, 238 pounds, 25 years old, 4.37 40-yard dash and a 39.5-inch vertical leap.

Thoughts on us potentially looking at Matt Jones?
