Jeff Darlington of NFL.com is reporting that Miami Dolphins CB Vontae Davis had some sort of confrontation with Dolphins receiver Brandon Marshall that left Davis wanting to “rip Marshall’s head off.”

Davis was listed as “Doubtful” for Sunday’s game because of a hamstring injury but then suddenly saw his status changed to “Out” yesterday for what the team called a “non-injury reason.”

According to Darlington, Davis is telling people that the altercation with Marshall is the reason he was left in Miami. Not surprisingly, the Dolphins are denying those reports.

Yeah, cause the teams ALWAYS tell the truth in these types of situations. Like when reporters asked Todd Haley about the fight between Jonathan Baldwin and Thomas Jones, and Haley acted like he didn’t know what the reporter was talking about.

The big question is whether or not the drama is causing any sort of division within the Dolphins’ locker room? If the situation is a distraction, especially for Marshall, things could go from bad to worse for the Dolphins.

Let’s hope so, at least for this week.

Former Denver Broncos WR Brandon Marshall has been stabbed with a knife by a woman and is currently in the intensive care unit of a hospital according to ESPN.com’s Adam Schefter.

Marshall, a Pro Bowl receiver, was traded from the Broncos to the Dolphins last April.

The source told Shefter that Marshall is going to be ok.

Marshall had over one-thousand yards receiving for the Dolphins last season, despite missing a couple games due to injury. I’m sure more details on this situation will be coming but for now we wish Brandon a speedy recovery.

First thing this morning, when I was putting together The Morning Fix™ I noticed that there were suddenly Marsahall to Miami rumors swirling. I meant to get a post up about it but I ran out of time and had to leave for work.

Well, I am glad I didn’t go to the trouble because by the time I got to Manhattan, the deal was done.

ESPN is reporting that, pending a physical, Marshall is headed to Miami. It looks like the Dolphins are giving the Donks a 2nd round pick in the year’s draft as well an additional 2nd rounder next year.

This is good news for Chiefs fans because it means the team won’t have to face Marshall twice a year and if you remember, KC performed much better against the Broncos when Marshal was benched.

More after the jump.

I got a text this morning that woke me up: “Brandon Marshall is now a Dolphin.” “Halle-effing-lujah!” I rejoiced. Then I tried to go back to sleep…and started thinking. Never a good thing when I start thinking too much.

The Seahawks just traded for Charlie “Don’t Call Me Jesus” Whitehurst. Art Modell will be given a parade in Cleveland before the Browns are going to take another Notre Dame QB. The Raiders are stuck on Fatmarcus. The Jags want to win now. If our old friend Chan Gailey’s Buffalo Bills don’t like Jimmy Clausen, he could easily slip to the Broncos at 11.

Meanwhile, Dez Bryant is slipping as well. Newly equipped with an extra second-round pick, the Broncos could easily trade up (packaging a second and maybe a third) into the mid-to-late first and snag him. They can do so and still have a second-round pick to burn on, say, a linebacker.

Marshall’s absence is a huge break for the Chiefs. With a 1,000-yard receiver out of the mix, Kansas City will likely be able to scheme Denver similar to the way the defense played Cincinnati last week. S Mike Brown had an excellent game in run-support logging a team-leading 13 tackles. Typically, it’s not a good sign for a safety to be the tackle leader, but many of Brown’s tackles occurred near the line of scrimmage.

For the majority of the game, Brown walked up as an eighth man in the box. He typically rolled to the weak side and ran the cutback ally to counter rushing lines created by Cincinnati’s mammoth offensive line. The scheme was effective, limiting Cincinnati to just 43 rushing yards in the first half before RB Cedric Benson finally broke a 32-yard run on the first play of the third quarter.

The big news in the AFC West today is that Denver Broncos’ star quarterback Jay Cutler has demanded a trade. The Cutler-Josh McDaniels feud began back when McD allegedly tried to trade for Matt Cassel, only to be beaten to the punch by Scott Pioli, his old boss, and the Chiefs. Not only did the move land the Chiefs their quarterback of the future, but it caused their biggest rival to potentially lose theirs as well. Talk about a double whammy for the Donks.

Now, I’m reading suggestions from Chiefs fans that we should trade Cassel for Cutler. My response: No. Way. In. Hell. In fact, I wouldn’t trade Cassel and Dwayne Bowe for Brandon Marshall and Cutler if they threw in a second-rounder. Wouldn’t even take the call; I’d slam down the phone and ask the phone company to block their number.

The list was made up of NFL players who probably would leave you hanging if you were about to kick the bucket. I especially enjoyed having a laugh at the expense of two of our favorite assclowns from AFC West rival teams:

Brandon Marshall - He’s busy trying to protect himself from fast food wrappers. You would be on your own.

Javon Walker - How’s he supposed to save you when he wouldn’t even remember how he got there?

I was a little disappointed about Shawne Merriman not making the list. Then again, steroids probably make him more likely to save lives. I can see Steroid Shawne getting all crazy on the Vitamin S and going all Incerdible Hulk on us. He might have broken poor Ken Hunter’s ribs if he was at the restaurant instead of Tony G, though. Roid rage!

Goin’ Gonzo: TE Tony Gonzalez extended his franchise-record streak of consecutive games with a reception to 111 contests, the second-longest streak compiled by a TE in NFL history and the sixth-longest active streak by a player in the league. Gonzalez caught a 15-yard TD from QB Brodie Croyle. It was Croyle’s fifth TD of the season and the 66th of his career.

(I am still going to go to the Titans game this coming Sunday)

Herm Edwards on the game:

“The defense put our offense in a bad way,” Chiefs coach Herm Edwards said. “Right now our strength, if we have a strength, is our defense. And you can’t give up 14 points early in the first quarter of a football game and expect your offense to come out and start moving the ball. We’ve struggled all year scoring points.”

It doesn’t get any worse than this… Chiefs get crushed by Denver 41-7 at Mile High – KC Chiefs Fanatic

I couldn’t agree more with Jared Allen:

“I’d hate to see rock bottom if this isn’t rock bottom”

“Whenever you play KC, you are going to get a physical game. I’m a little sore, but it’s football and that’s what it’s supposed to be.

I was surprised they called it a prop,” Marshall added. “You’ve got to have fun sometimes. That’s what it’s all about. It’s like I always said: This is like playing Pop Warner football and drinking Kool-Aid and eating Pop Tarts. That’s what you have to do in the NFL.”
