The Kansas City Chiefs could end up with Brandon Lloyd starting opposite Dwayne Bowe in 2012.

It isn’t as crazy as it sounds.

A few things will need to happen for this scenario to go down. For starters, the Chiefs would need to re-sign or use the franchise tag on WR Dwayne Bowe.

Then the Chiefs would need to bring in former Broncos coach Josh McDaniels as their offensive coordinator. There are multiple reports floating around that Chiefs’ GM Scott Pioli would like to bring in McDaniels as the new head coach but that he can’t sell the idea to Clark Hunt or the fans after McDaniels’ terrible run in Denver.

What many are hypothesizing is that Pioli will go ahead and make Romeo Crennel the new head coach and bring in McDaniels as the new offensive coordinator, reuniting him with Matt Cassel. Selling McDaniels as a coordinator would be easier for Pioli. Crennel, who is in his mid-60s, likely won’t be around for a long time so Pioli would have McDaniels lined up as Crennel’s successor. If the Chiefs offense is successful under McDaniels, it will be pretty easy for Pioli to promote him.

Where does Lloyd come in to all this?

The St. Louis Rams acquired pro bowl WR Brandon Lloyd from the Denver Broncos for a 6th round draft pick, according to ESPN’s Chris Mortenson.

I have to say, John Elway is a genius. If only he’d hire Josh McDaniels back as head coach he might just drive the Broncos straight into the ground.

Seriously though, I guess if that was the only offer the Broncos were going to get for Lloyd and they really had no intention of re-signing him, it is better to get something than nothing.

According to Mort, the pick could become a 5th rounder depending on how Lloyd performs with his new team.

Damn, what a great move for the Rams. The Chiefs don’t even really need a receiver and I still would have been ok with it if they got Lloyd for a 6th/conditional 5th. Hell, I’d even throw in Shabby Piscitelli free of charge.=)

What do you guys think? Is Elway a genius or an idiot?

Jason La Canfora of NFL Network is reporting via Twitter that Broncos Pro Bowl WR Brandon Lloyd is being traded to the St. Louis Rams ahead of tomorrow’s NFL trade deadline.

The details of the trade are not yet known.

Lloyd will now be reunited with Josh McDaniels, who was the head coach of the Broncos when Lloyd had his breakout season in 2010.

This puts new starter Tim Tebow in an interesting position as he will now roll with a talented but young group of wide receivers in his first start this weekend. Should be interesting.

We’ll update you on the trade details if and when we get them.

Update: La Canfora is reporting the trade has been agreed to but the two sides are hammering out the last details. It should be completed soon he reports.

The NFL’s trade deadline is tomorrow at 4 p.m. eastern time and the AFC West could be a major player in any deals that go down.

The Denver Broncos are reportedly looking to field offers for WR Brandon Lloyd and QB Kyle Orton. Lloyd is reportedly drawing interest from the San Francisco 49ers and New England Patriots. The St. Louis Rams are also a name entering the conversation for Lloyd as former Broncos Head Coach Josh McDaniels is now the offensive coordinator in St. Louis. Lloyd will be a free agent after the season and the Broncos seem to be ready to move ahead with some of their younger receivers. If they can get something for Lloyd they likely will, rather than get nothing for him at the end of the season.

The other juicy deal that could go down is a trade between the Oakland Raiders and Broncos for QB Kyle Orton. The Broncos have named Tim Tebow the new starter at QB and they are prepared to move on from Orton. The Raiders, on the other hand, are now in a desperate scramble to find a new starting QB. Oakland is 4-2 but lost starting QB Jason Campbell yesterday to a broken collarbone. Reports around the league indicate that the Raiders are aggressively trying to find a replacement.

The Denver Broncos have placed Pro Bowl WR Brandon Llyod on trading block, according to ESPN.com. The Broncos are apparently asking for a third, fourth or fifth round pick for Llyod.

I guess the Broncos are in full rebuild mode. Obviously, they would need to start that process by getting rid of all their good players.

Tim Tebow is set to make his first start after the bye week. The trade deadline is Tuesday so if Lloyd is dealt, the chosen one will begin his career as the Broncos starter without the team’s top target.

Maybe the Donkeys are trying to Suck for Luck?

I know some of you are wondering if the Chiefs would make a play for Lloyd. I doubt it. For one, trades between division rivals, while they do happen, are pretty rare. For two, the Chiefs don’t really need Lloyd that badly. They already have Dwayne Bowe, Steve Breaston and Jonathan Baldwin. Although Baldwin hasn’t played yet, he is still a first round pick. Don’t see the Chiefs making a play here.

There haven’t been a lot of highlights for the Denver Broncos this season but emergence WR Brandon Lloyd was certainly one of the bright spots.

Lloyd was rewarded for his excellent play this season with an invitation to the NFL Pro Bowl. Lloyd’s reaction?

“(Bleep) you!”

The Broncos receiver was asked by the media if there was anything he would like to say to his former teams in San Francisco, Washington and Chicago that may not have believed in his ability in the past.

Here is Lloyd’s exact quote courtesy of the Denver Post:

Half-good naturedly, half-seriously, Lloyd said: “”Yeah, there is something I’d like to say to them: “(Bleep) you.” I mean that in the most professional way.’’

After about 3 seconds of stunned silence, Broncos media relations director Patrick Smyth jumped into the call: “”Anything else for Brandon, guys? I have receivers coach Adam Gase here …”

Oops. Perhaps Lloyd and Shaun Smith can get together and share tips about how to get one’s foot out of one’s own mouth.

The Kansas City Chiefs will host the Denver Broncos this weekend so we are going inside the enemy camp to talk with Kim Constantinesco, the lead blogger over at Predominately Orange, FanSided’s Broncos site.

I talked with Kim for the second time this season and asked her about the recent troubles with Spygate II, the last Chiefs/Broncos game and what her prediction for Sunday’s contest is.

Let’s go inside the enemy camp with Predominately Orange.

AA:Well…so…um…you kicked our butts in Denver. I took a lot of heat for predicting a Denver victory way back then but even I didn’t think things would get that out of hand.

My question for you is, how did that happen? I mean, the Broncos have been terrible this season, only winning 3 games. What looked different to you about the way Denver played on that afternoon as opposed to the rest of their losses?

PO: They got off to a quick start and were able to maintain their momentum throughout the game. That has been the first and only game for the Broncos where that’s happened. They had things going on both sides of the ball. Defensively, they stopped the run and capitalized on a turnover. Offensively, they had both the passing game and the rushing game going. This offense is capable of putting up 40+ points on more than one occasion if they have both facets going. The key stat for the Broncos in week 10 was their ability to convert on third down. They went 6-10 that day, but in their last two weeks, they’ve gone 2-22. I’m convinced that the Broncos are their biggest opponent. You never know which team is going to show up.
