It’s obvious that the Chiefs and Jarrad Page are a divorce waiting to happen. The Lions have been floating around there for some time as an obvious interested team. The Lions DC, Gunther Cunningham knows Page, He runs a system that could use Page. PFT is now reporting more interest from the Lions.

Given the way Pioli handled Bernard Pollard last year, teams are probably reluctant to pony up a draft pick if they think Page is going to get cut. So, this has become a waiting game. Unless another team emerges in the bidding, the Lions have the upper hand.

At this point, I want to pose two questions for everyone to consider and answer in the comments.

1] What is fair value for Page?

2] if a trade is made, what round draft pick (conditional or not, max value of the pick) do you expect to get back.

My thought is that Page is a decent young corner and is worth a 5th round draft pick. With the Lions being the only team apparently in the running, I expect a deal would be for a max value of a 6th round pick. However, I would think Pioli would pull the trigger on a 7th round pick to get this matter behind the Chiefs. Those are my thoughts, now sound off!

I figure this old feature is a welcomed thing for me to chime in with from time to time. The National Football Post is floating the idea that Dez Bryant could slip into the 20s, maybe late 20s, due to a bad “attitude” and hammy. He is hands down the best receiver in this draft. That being said, would you trade our first second and our third for the chance to take him in the 20s? I think I would. With Thomas Jones on board along with vets Brian Waters and Mike Vrabel, I think this team now has strong leadership. Additionally, Todd Haley has experience working with diva receivers, and his somewhat legendary veteran coordinators would also help keep all strong personalities in check.

Addicts, is Dez Bryant worth the gamble of trading up to get him if he slips into the 20s?

Wow it’s nice to have Adam tossing out a post. Nothing seems to get me working on a quick article faster. Today, it was Adam’s throwaway comment labeling Haley “somewhat of an offensive mastermind”. Now, I grant you, Haley did come to KC with a reputation for running high powered offenses. Critics pointed to Haley’s thin resume. At the end of the 2008 season, Haley had called plays for a whole year and a half. However, his 2008 Cardinals team were prolific. Having Kurt Warner, Fitz and, Boldin does help a lot.

So, Todd Haley becomes the head coach of the Chiefs. He decided to keep on a well respected offensive coordinator in Chan Gailey and went to work. Loyal Chief fans know what happened. Haley decided he didn’t like what Chan was doing and took over the offensive coordinator duties himself. Now that we are almost at the end of the season, we can compare Haley and Gailey. The 2008 and 2009 Chief defenses were pretty similar, so that’s not a big factor biasing our results. Gailey did have to work with a third string QB for most of the year, while Haley had his starting QB for almost every game. Pioli did trade away TonyG. That mitigates the advantage Haley has, but it does not eliminate it. Starting QB versus third string QB is a huge difference. So, how does Haley’s 2009 Chiefs offense compare to the Gailey designed 2008 Chiefs offense? Well, with one game to play, Haley has masterminded the Chiefs to 250 points scored. The Gailey Chiefs scored 291 points using a designed on the fly during the season offense to take advantage of his third string QB’s abilities. Unless we score 41 points on Sunday, Gailey’s offense will have scored more points than Haley’s.

So Addicts, who did a better job of designing an offense? Chan Gailey or Todd Haley? To the larger question, is Todd Haley’s reputation as a good offensive coach deserved or is he riding the coattails of Warner, Fitz and Boldin?

I was watching that poor performance against the Bills and things finally snapped with me. On offense the Chiefs are not prepared. Matt Cassel is not prepared properly. He is still a very young quaterback in terms of experience. Unfortunately, Todd Haley decided that the best Offensive Coordinator he could find was Todd Haley. He also decided that the best Quarterback Coach he could find was Todd Haley. I think it be becoming clear that Todd Haley can not do justice to the Chiefs serving in all three roles.

So, I believe that Head Coach Todd Haley needs to fire Offensive Coordinator Todd Haley and fire Quarterback Coach Todd Haley at the end of the year. If he doesn’t, perhaps Scott Pioli should sack all three Haleys. Our team deserves better than Haley times three. Players need attention. The gameplans need dedicated coaches, not a Head Coach spread all over the place. Gary Kubiac for Offensive Coordinator and Steve DeBerg for QB Coach (If anyone can get him). They would be my first choices. Addicts, what do you think?

Kicking around the back of the old Merlin brain is a thought I want to toss out for comments. As we know, our current strong safety, Mike Brown has an injury filled history. Bob Sanders, the elite strong safety of the Colts makes news when he plays a game, not when he is out. Sanders has played in two games this year. Going into his sixth season he has averaged nine games played a year. Another elite strong safety, seventh year player Troy Polamalu had played in five games this year. There are rumors that Troy is done for the year. Troy has played a full season only once in the last four seasons.

This brings me to Eric Berry from the University of Tennesee. If he declares for the draft, he will probably be the best defensive player in the draft not named Suh. We have a huge need for a ball hawk, run stuffing strong safety. However, I am wondering. Is the strong safety postion becoming like the running back position? By that I mean, is it turning into the type of position where a player burns out fast? These players seem to play six or seven years and they break down physically.

With this in mind, would it be more prudent to grab a left tackle in round one? If you hit on a left tackle you should be set for ten years plus. Does the history of elite wrecking ball type strong safties like Sanders and Polamalu give you pause?

So the news has hit the Intertwebs that Anquan Boldin wouldn’t mind playing for the Chiefs. The price for the Cardinals is apparently a first and a third. I wonder if the No. 3 pick and a 2010 conditional would get it done (high third, low fifth)? If so, I would pull the trigger. As much as I love Crabtree, Boldin has proven that he is a Pro Bowl player and a tough-as-nails one at that.

This would also clear the way for us to trade Tony Gonzalez if we wanted to in exchange for second-rounder, where we could snag a linebacker. After all, one fundamental belief I have is that teams overvalue their draft picks because they believe they can assess talent better than they truly can. Definitely food for thought.

Personally, I think he’s a career clipboard holder, but that’s just me. He’s way too frail to be counted on as a starter, and that’s even if you think he has the talent. I don’t. I just haven’t seen it.

Does the Jay Cutler trade mean that Mark Sanchez is a Denver draft target? We have a couple of competing opinions.

Adam Best from our own Arrowhead Addict:

For those of you thinking the Donks still might draft Dirty, it’s not gonna happen. The Broncos have signed vets and seem to want to win now. Plus, there is no way Sanchez slips to 12 after yesterday. Ain’t gonna happen, folks.

But instead of drafting Sanchez, the Broncos look ready to hinge their Super Bowl hopes to…Orton?

Mike Florio from Pro Football Talk:

So the next question is whether the Broncos will slap those two picks together and try to move in position to get one of the top two quarterbacks in the draft — Matthew Stafford and Mark Sanchez.

So with the Rams unlikely to take a quarterback at No. 2, the Broncos could get in position to get whichever quarterback the Lions don’t take (if they take a quarterback) by trading up with the Chiefs at No. 3 or the Seahawks at No. 4.

Typically, division rivals shy away from transacting business. The connection between Broncos coach Josh McDaniels and Chiefs G.M. Scott Pioli could help.

The Cutler trade does open the the door to a possible trade down that didn’t exist before. I would take that trade, if offered.

OK Addicts, what do you think? Is this a good trade-down option? Would you do it? Do you agree with Adam that Denver is hitching their wagon to Kyle Orton?

I’m pretty sure A.A. invented the reader mock. OK, maybe not, but if we didn’t invent it, then we were one of the first sites to do one. This year, I’m thinking all polls. Something like three polls a day for 10 days. We’ll give the first two picks a day and the Chiefs’ pick a day, too. So, 12 days total. Polls ended up working pretty well for the no-shows last year (and there were quite a few no-shows), and this way we won’t have someone like Martin Rucker picked in the first round. I think now is the perfect time to do one, too. Slow, slow, slow.

Now that free agency has slowed down to a crawl — if it ever really got going in the first place — let’s get back to talking about the draft.

Someone I’m looking at is Conner Barwin out of Cincinnati. A tight end until his senior year, when he played defensive end and compiled 10 sacks. Oddly enough, he will likely play neither position in the pros, even though Mike Mayock likes him as a Chris Cooley-type tight end. I see him as a Mike Vrabel-style 3-4 backer. I could also see him putting his hand down some and even playing tight end in goalline packages. He’s got 4.6 speed, and obviously has a knack for getting to the quarterback. The problem is that he will likely go in the second round. Maybe through some wheeling and dealing we can still bring him in?

Sure, maybe players don’t want to play here, but money talks and we have more of it left than any other team. Additionally, everybody knows Arrowhead is one of the best places to play in the league. It shouldn’t be this hard to attract free agents.

I’m not sure if it’s Clark Hunt being frugal or Scott Pioli sticking to the Patriot way, or both, but I’m honestly worried that we are going to have to overpay scrap-heap players just to fulfill the minimum-salary requirement. Even Ray Willis is no longer available. I mean, are we going to have to throw money at Jason Taylor just to hit the minimum? I’m trying to be patient, and I know some big names will continue to get cut, but we have done absolutely jack sh** thus far. What’s up with that?

Here’s a thought; the Chiefs and Cardinals exchange problems by trading Edgerrin James for Larry Johnson, or one problem for another. Both players obviously need a change of scenery, and both teams would be better off without the distractions.

The Chiefs get a versatile feature back who knows Todd Haley’s offense and is more reasonably priced. The addition of Edge would keep the Chiefs competitive while they search for their feature back of the future. Jamal Charles is best suited as a third-down back, so this allows him to play a more natural role. Edge also performed very well during the Cards’ Super Bowl run, and is a much better blocker than L.J. He not only can see incoming blitzers, he actually makes an effort to pick them up.

The Cardinals get a younger back who’s potential upside gives them a better shot at making another Super Bowl run. With J.J. Arrington out of AZ and the Cards waiting to cut Edge to keep him from landing in the wrong hands, it’s apparent they will need more than just Tim Hightower. Johnson could be that guy.

Considering that neither player has any trade value right now, this deal makes a lot of sense to me. Otherwise, both teams could just end up cutting their former star running backs. Plus, the Chiefs have already shown a willingness to deal with the new brain trust’s former teams. With all the problems these two franchises are dealing with, it would make a lot of sense for both teams to solve one by making this swap.

Am I taking crazy pills, or does this make sense to everybody else?

If we are indeed shifting to a 3-4 defense, and we haven’t officially hired a defensive coordinator…then Scott Pioli bringing in his old buddy Romeo Crennel to be the Chiefs’ new D.C. is still a possibility, right? When thinking about the 3-4 and Romeo, several questions come to mind:

What will we do with Glenn Dorsey? Can he bulk up and play the nose position? Is he even tall enough to be an effective 3-4 defensive lineman at any position?

Would we be interested in Albert Haynesworth, as it looks like he will be available?

Julius Peppers. Would he be interested in us and vice versa? It doesn’t look like we are currently one of his four preferred destinations.

Would Crennel even want the job?

If Crennel doesn’t end up being our D.C., can Clancy Pendergast and Gary Gibbs, two D-coordinators who never ran the 3-4, install it successfully?

There’s certainly a lot to ponder when it comes to both the rumored 3-4 switch and the TBD D.C. situation, so…

Addicts, sound off on the 3-4 and Romeo Rumors…

I loved Arrowhead Pride’s post today on offensive lines busts in the top five. Great stuff. Looks like only about 25 percent of those guys turn out to be lemons. According to my research, top-five receivers in that same span only have a 33 percent bust rate. In the past five years they have a 20 percent bust rate, the exact same as OT if you pencil both Braylon Edwards and D’Brickashaw Ferguson in as non-busts, which I would. Just wanted to make that point first.

More importantly, I’m worried about us picking an OT that high for four other reasons:

1. Which one do we take? Two months ago it was Michael Oher. Two weeks ago it was Andre Smith. Last week it was Eugene Monroe. Now, it’s Jason Smith. Or is it back to Monroe? What will it be after the combine?

2. Building on that last point, can’t we get nearly the same player at No. 34, and not have to feel bad about playing him at RT? Look at Joe Thomas and Tony Ugoh in 2007, Jake Long and Sam Baker in 2008. Typically, there is a lot of depth at OT, and this year is no different.

3. Do we really want to move Branden Albert to LG or RT after he played so well as a rookie at the coveted LT position? Or pay a top-five pick to play — GULP! — RT?

4. There are guys like Jordan Gross and Mark Tauscher out there in free agency.

That’s how I see it. Unless Brian Orakpo or Mark Sanchez blows away the combine, I’m pretty set on the Chiefs taking Michael Crabtree. Whether they will do it or not doesn’t matter to me. Last year I knew we wouldn’t trade up to get Matt Ryan, but I wanted to go out on a limb and say that was what I would’ve done. This is no different.

Addicts, considering these points, why should we burn the No. 3 pick on an OT?

What the hell has Chiefs nation been smoking? Chan Gailey as our head coach? Other than one year at Troy, he has been Mr. Mediocre at every stop. The crazy thing is that people are questioning Todd Haley in the same breath they are championing Gailey — that’s just nuts!

As an offensive coordinator in 2008, Gailey won one game with his “vaunted” Arrowspread and two all year. As an offensive coordinator in 2008, Todd Haley’s offense willed the Cardinals into the Super Bowl. Gailey has been sought after by gridiron goons like Herm Edwards and Jerry Jones. Todd Haley has been sought after by gridiron geniuses like Bill Parcells and Scott Pioli. Seriously, this argument is a joke. Flush your “collective body of work” crap down the toilet — bringing back Gailey is defeatist. It’s saying going 2-14 is OK. It’s an Al Davis move, that’s what it is.

Everyone fell in love with the Arrowspread, but constantly I hear that I want to go back to the Vermeil days? Vermeil’s defenses also blew, but at least his offense actually won some freakin’ games. I’d support Al Saunders coming back before I’d support Charlie Chan coming back. All Gailey’s Arrowspread was was sedation during a colonoscopy. He simply made watching the pain in the ass that was Harmball less intolerable with his gimmicky offense. That’s it. That’s it.

Addicts, do you support Chan Gailey to be our next head coach? Really? You sure (trying not to laugh)? Why?

Would you have any interest in him? I would. He took the Eagles to five more conference championships than the Chiefs went to during this past decade. He also played some of his best football ever during the second half of this season. Remember, he went to the Super Bowl the year he had a Pro Bowl-caliber target in Terrell Owens. This guy would tear it up with Dwayne Bowe and Tony Gonzalez. We’re talking career years for all three. Then if Michael Crabtree got drafted by the Chiefs — the rest of the league wouldn’t even want to see the trailer for that horror movie.

At 32, it just depends on what the Eagles want. Larry Johnson, a second-rounder and a conditional pick? Sure. The No. 3 pick? Get lost. Of course, all of this is contingent on McNabb asking for a trade, but his buddy Deion Sanders says he wants out. From Philly.com:

Deion Sanders, meanwhile, remained McNabb’s greatest defender and stuck by his story that the quarterback wants out of Philadelphia even though his only source seems to be himself. Sanders ripped Eagles fans at various points during the season, including after the Thanksgiving night game, when McNabb threw four touchdowns in a rout of the same Cardinals who are representing the NFC in Sunday’s Super Bowl.

“I don’t hate Philadelphia,” Sanders said. “I never said anything derogatory about Philadelphia. What I said about Philadelphia is that Donovan McNabb wants to leave. I think it’s a beautiful city, but it’s also a city that cheered when Michael Irvin was injured. That’s my thoughts about the athletic realm of Philadelphia. But I never said I hate the city. I think it’s a beautiful city.”

If it’s so beautiful, why does he think McNabb wants to leave?

“Maybe it’s because they booed him on draft day,” Sanders said. “Maybe it’s because they continuously doubt him when he’s taken them to four [actually five] NFC championship games. Maybe it’s because no matter what he does, it’s never enough. Maybe that’s the reason.”

This could get interesting. The good news is that with the plethora of options out there, Scott Pioli will, I repeat will, find a quarterback. No, I am not talking about looking down at the roster and realizing Tyler Thigpen is on it either. Personally, I’ll have to mull this over for a while, maybe wait until we hear more.

Addicts, any interest in McNabb if the price is right? Debate away…

Our site’s rotating header now features the following Chiefs legends…

Bobby Bell

Buck Buchanan

Derrick Thomas

Lamar Hunt

Scott Pioli

Tony Gonzalez

Willie Lanier

Now, obviously we are going to add Emmitt Thomas, Hank Stram and Len Dawson here soon, but who else should we add? Will Shields? I think we have to. Willie Roaf? He played most of his career with the Saints. My main man Deron Cherry? Joe Delaney? Otis Taylor? The Nigerian Nightmare? Jim Lynch? John Alt? Greg Wesley? — just kidding!

As far as current players, we felt Tony G was the only player who deserved the honor, but maybe Brian Waters as well? We thought about Bernard Pollard also, as he led the team in tackles and had a monster second half of the season. Dwayne Bowe? He just made USA Today’s “All Joe” team along with Brandon Carr, but we’re holding him out until he holds onto the ball. It’s too early, in my opinion, to add the Brandons or Glenn Dorsey (who’s currently suspended from his “Swamp Thing” moniker).

Addicts, pick one current or ex-Chiefs player you want to see in the header…

I just got done watching the inauguration and I have to say I am very proud of our country and the progress we have made. I want to pay homage to this proud moment in our nation’s history with an AADQ tribute. What is my proudest Chiefs moment? It actually has little to do with the Chiefs, and more to do with we the fans — people of all walks or life. I believe I’ve shared this before, but it’s been a long time. Here’s something I wrote while on FOX Sports Next Great Sportswriter II about two-and-a-half years ago:

Before my bro and I could even pick back up our beers, Chiefs Pro Bowl return specialist Dante Hall had broken the ankles of a few Eagles special teamers and was streaking down the field towards our endzone. When he hit the Eagles’ 30-yard line, we knew he was gone. We were already in the aisles going ballistic. Us, this Mexican dude and “Fred-Ex” (this Chiefs fan the Eagles fans were calling Freddie Mitchell) were celebrating with each other like we had been best friends for 20 years. We were running up and down the aisles slapping hands with other Chiefs fans. I saw a soccer mom high five a NASCAR fan. I saw a middle-aged yuppie embrace an iced-out teen. I saw a 60-year-old man crowd surfing. I ran down the aisle and saw Dante Hall in the endzone doing his patented “X-Factor” celebration while exclaiming “We’re Kansas City, baby!”

He was right, during that moment there were no colors, creeds, religions or sexes that separated the crowd from befriending one another. We were all the exact same thing — Kansas City red.

I’ll be flying back to Texas today, but feel free to use this as an open thread not just for your AADQ responses but all Chiefs-related thoughts.

Excuse my acronym, but WTF!? What is wrong with you Hermaphrodites? What is wrong with Kent Babb? What is wrong with Clark Hunt? Well, besides obviously not wanting to pay Herm Edwards $4 million to sit at home and practice those moronic Hermisms in front of the mirror? What in the world is going on? I expect this from Bob Gretz, but not the Addicts. This isn’t the Presidency — you don’t get four years no matter what! Speaking of the Presidency, arguing for Herm’s return is just about as ridiculous as arguing for a third Dubya term. Either that, or arguing for Brodie Croyle to replace Johnny Knoxville in the next Jackass movie.

The thought of Harm staying makes me want to do a belly flop off the top of my apartment complex. The only reason I’m not going to is because it’s only two stories high, and the only thing worse than watching Pee Wee Herman football is watching it from your hospital bed in a full body cast, unable to turn off the game with the remote. If it was three stories, A.A. would be looking for a new editor.

(Here’s a question…who would be in better shape: A.) Me after my apartment belly flop; or B.) Brodie after making a Jackass movie? I’ve had my fair share of injuries, but I’ve never broken a bone. I’ve gotta go with me.)

In all seriousness, the only way I will keep my sanity is by bagging on Harm once a day (like vitamins, baby) and constantly reminding myself that he’s leading us to a third consecutive top-five pick. Oh, yes, the Genius of Defeat is that good.

If you want to keep Herm, step up and defend your reasoning. Let us know why Herm Edwards is the right guy to kick off the Scott Pioli era. This outta be good…

So, now Ron Rivera is being mentioned a possible candidate, that is if Herm Edwards actually gets canned. Hiring Scott Pioli only to retain Harm is kinda like getting with Eva Mendes only to get cut off at third base, but I digress.

Rivera really turned around the Chargers’ season after he replaced the completely incompetent Ted Cottrell as the Bolts’ defensive coordinator. He was also the D.C. for Da Bears team that went to the Super Bowl a few years back. If Steve Spagnuolo falls through, I prefer Rivera to Rex Ryan. I think he’s more of a fit personality wise. Not sure we want to fiddle with the Ryans after all we’ve seen. Plus, Rivera’s departure would hurt the Bolts. Not a reason to sign him, just an added bonus if we do.

Rivera is interviewing with the Lions today, so he may not even be available.

OK, so now I am starting to get worried about how poky Chiefs owner Clark Hunt is being in his general manager search.

Why the sudden change? Because I’m starting to worry that the Broncos are going to hire Josh McDaniels, partially as a you-know-what block move. As you all know, McDaniels is rumored to be Scott Pioli’s head coach no matter where he lands. A McDaniels-to-the-Rockies move while we’re taking our sweet ass time could flush our Pioli dream down the toilet. Plus, McDaniels is going to be a damn good head coach someday. It’s all making me very nervous. I really thought Pioli would be with the Chiefs by today after Mangini got hired.

Addicts, does Clark need to hustle his ass up in hiring a GM?

After watching the second half of tonight’s National Championship, I can’t say that I’m particularly impressed with Sam Bradford. That interception wasn’t his fault, but he totally choked on his last series. This was the best secondary he faced, and if you ask me he didn’t look like he was ready for the NFL. The main thing I’ve been wanting to see from him is a game-winning or game-clinching clutch drive down the stretch against a great defense. That definitely didn’t happen tonight. I’m just not sold on Bradford. Sorry.

I will also add that I do hate Oklahoma, but I’d take 22 Sooners if that’s what it took to get to the Super Bowl. I’m not being biased here.

As for Tebow, the guy was throwing jump passes and running the option as usual. How can you evaluate that from a pro perspective? There is something that just troubles with me when it comes to the proposition of Tebow, and it’s not just the way he’s been utilized in college. He was homeschooled, he’s a diety down in backwoods community of Gainesville (I used to live in Orlando), he’s spent all of his off time as a missionary. Sometimes I don’t know if he’s ready for the real world and the NFL. He’s obviously got a good head on his shoulders, but he seems a bit sheltered. I’m not saying that he’s Todd Marijuanavich or anything, I’m just saying. Sounds like he might stay in school, so it all might be a moot point.

Addicts, what are your thoughts on Bradford and Tebow?

Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald carried the Arizona Cardinals to victory today.

Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald carried the Arizona Cardinals to victory today. Their early domination opened the running lanes up for what had been the league’s worst rushing attack coming into the game. Fitzgerald also was either the receiver or the decoy on Kurt Warner’s late game-clinching drive. In my opinion, Boldin’s pulled hammy is the only thing that kept the Falcons-Cards game from turning into a blowout.

Boldin and Fitz put together a compelling case for the Chiefs drafting Texas Tech wide receiver Michael Crabtree. They proved that an offense built around a pair of receivers can both sustain long drives and win in the playoffs. They also showed us that the surest way to get good quarterback play is to surround your QB with a potent arsenal of receiving weapons. Boy, Crabtree would be damn near impossible to cover alongside Dwayne Bowe and Tony Gonzalez. Hell, Mark Bradley could be our Steve Breaston. Definite food for thought.

Addicts, given the impressive playoff debut of the Boldin-Fitz show, should the Chiefs draft Crabtree to compliment D-Bowe.

First off, we want to wish a belated Merry Christmas to everybody! Now, on to business…

Yesterday, I promised my old man that I would lay off Herm Edwards during Christmas in honor of the 1914 Christmas Truce between the Brits and the Germans. Now that Christmas is over, so is the AA-Harm truce. I still fully believe that Herm is toast — good riddance. That being said, who do I want to replace him? Josh McDaniels. I think a young, fresh, hungry, innovative coach is what the Chiefs need to get back to their winning ways.

My new favorite Chiefs player is Mark Bradley, aka the Bradley Effect. I always thought the guy was a player when he was at Oklahoma (boooooooo!), and I could never figure out why he didn’t turn out up in the Windy City. I guess that’s not really our problem, because so far he’s turned out in the Tailgating Mecca. I really hope that he’ll be able to play Sunday, because I really think he could abuse that Chargers secondary and help open things up for the O. It’s your turn, and there’s only one rule: it has to be a player who’s brand new to the roster in 2008.

I already miss the TD Pack Band, and they aren’t even done yet. Honestly, I can’t believe we are getting rid of them. This is an obvious maneuver to jam more seats into Arrowhead and more money into Clark Hunt‘s pockets. With this and renaming Arrowhead, do the Chiefs care about preserving any traditions at all? Why not take Len Dawson‘s name off the ring of honor and throw up another advertisement while you’re at it?

Man, I just can’t believe they are getting rid of the band. Can they at least have the band do a recording session so we can keep the atmosphere the same? Unbelievable. I’m just glad I get to see their last game here in about 10 days or so.

For us Kansas State Wildcats fans, the 54-31 debacle was momentarily erased as we ran around our homes like rats humming the Wabash (or at lest the Best Bros. were). In my opinion, the rest of the Big 12 North is in deep you know what. MU and Nebraska all lose their quarterbacks, leaving things wide open for Bill Snyder, Josh Freeman and the revitalized wildcats.

Beakers, hold on to that hoops National Championship, because the Fatman and his football program are finished.

Stinkels, relish that Big 12 Championship game, because it could be your last for a really long, long, long time. You got your one win, now assume your usual position. Time for the master to come back and bitchslap his apprentice.

Cornhuskers, the purple-tinted nightmares are about to return.

Brent Venables could be coming back to fill a head coach-in-waiting position, and Phil Bennett and others might return as well.

Addicts, is it just me or is the Purple Reign pretty close to being back in full effect overnight? (Today you get the purple!)

This one is from Dwaynebowefan82, who asked “why is Colquitt sucking?” I’m not exactly sure what’s wrong with Dustin Colquitt, to be honest. I think he’s probably both not 100 percent and a bit rusty. We absolutely need him to be at the top of his game, however, because we know the Chiefs‘ 32nd-ranked defense hasn’t been.

Addicts, why has Colquitt been, um, sucking?

A week after being all up on Herm Edwards‘ jock, now Jason Whitlock calls the Chiefs bigger losers than the Detroit Lions and the worst team in franchise history, yet doesn’t offer up any criticism at all of Harm? I know he’s a likable guy and an African-American coach, but there are plenty of both of those out there who can actually coach. Off the top of my head, Lovie Smith, Mike Tomlin and Tony Dungy fit the bill, and Jim Caldwell will soon. I always though Dennis Green was a good coach as well, Arizona debacle aside. Actually, there’s certainly an argument to be made for the opinion that Harm is setting back racial progress in the NFL coaching ranks.

But I don’t think this is a racial thing. I think it’s that Jason has such a raging hard-on for getting Carl Peterson fired that he doesn’t want to direct any of his venom at anybody else. That’s just my opinion, though.

Addicts, why won’t Whitlock blast Herm Edwards?

Tough loss, huh? Would have loved to see the Arrowhead faithful get a W, but at the same time our Chiefs now have the inside track at the No. 2 overall pick with that Bengals tie. Tyler Thigpen looked good as well, which, really, is the most important thing. Sorry to make you sweat all the way to the bank!

Anyway, I just think the Saints needed this one more than we did. At times, we lacked an overall sense of urgency and it showed.

In politics, the Bradley Effect is when voters tell pollsters they are going to vote for a candidate of color and then don’t once they get inside the booth. In Kansas City, it’s when an unheralded receiver named Mark Bradley comes in and unexpectedly grabs the Chiefs‘ No. 2 wide receiver spot by its throat. Do I believe in the latest TBE? Yeah, I think our Bradley Effect is the real deal, folks.

I thought Bradley was a player while he was at Oklahoma, and I was also impressed with him during his rookie campaign with the Bears. I really think we have found Eddie Kennison‘s replacement, and in today’s high-octane NFL you can never have enough WRs. That, Merlin, is why I support drafting Michael Crabtree. Look at how Anquan Boldin, Larry Fitzgerald and Steve Breaston have opened things up for Tim Hightower, for instance. The Cardinals have never ran as well as they did last week!

Addicts, is our Bradley Effect real or a mirage?
