The Chiefs had three separate press conferences on Monday. Clark Hunt, Brett Veach and Andy Reid all spoke to the press.

Clark Hunt kicked off the press conferences on Monday to talk about the release of former General Manager John Dorsey. Several items were said that were of interest including wanting the front office to be set up as good as the coaching. That item alone raises questions and is surprising based on Dorsey’s record. Hunt obviously felt he had to make a move and it sounds like this isn’t something that happened all of a sudden. There might have been a breaking point, but there were other signs leading up to the Chiefs moving on.

New GM Brett Veach’s press conference was not nearly as full. He took questions on his past and his plans for the future, but he was clear that he still held Dorsey in high regard. Veach is one of the youngest GMs in the NFL and will have a very young roster to work with. While Veach admits he doesn’t know everything he needs to know to do his job, it was clear that he has a plan and will work from that plan moving forward.

Before Head Coach Andy Reid spoke, head trainer Rick Burkholder updated people on the status of several Chiefs. Derrick Johnson and Travis Kelce are not starting camp on PUP (Physically Unable to Play list). Parker Ehinger, Dadi Nicolas, and a surprise addition of Chris Jones will start training camp on the PUP list. Jones is by far the biggest name on the PUP list, and he just had his knee scoped a couple of weeks ago after injuring himself working out. Only time will tell when any of the three will be available.

Reid spoke to the media on Monday about training camp, the QB’s, and Tamba Hali among other items.

Andy Reid had a lot to say as well as camp opened from St. Joe. Reid addressed the QB position and again said Smith is the starter and then they will see how things progress. Reid also was asked about Tamba Hali’s comments and he said he will talk to him when he reports. He also said that he was sure that the guys Hali was talking about will work through it with Hali himself as he is seen as the big brother on the team.
