The Kansas City Chiefs have cut outside linebacker Tourek Williams just days after signing him as a free agent.

Tourek Williams’ tenure with the Kansas City Chiefs was a short-lived one, as the outside linebacker was reportedly cut just days after the team signed him, gone in less than a single week.

Williams sat out the last day of practice at OTAs earlier this week, perhaps a sign that his future was in doubt for some reason. Williams originally entered the NFL as a former sixth round pick for the San Diego Chargers back in 2013. He spent the last four seasons as a special teams performer with the Chargers but signed with the Chiefs just four days ago.

It’s uncertain whether or not the Chiefs will reapproach Victor Ochi, the outside linebacker they released to signed Williams in the first place. Expect the Chiefs to announce some official move to fill his role on the defensive side, however the Chiefs still have several players contending at outside linebacker to back up Justin Houston, Tamba Hali and Dee Ford.

Veteran Frank Zombo is still around, as is last year’s sixth round choice Dadi Nicolas. The Chiefs also recently claimed linebacker Reshard Cliett.
