The Chiefs open their organized team activities on Tuesday. While not all their high-profile players were on the scene, the team’s momentum has begun to build.

The news of the day was that three high-profile players were not on hand as organizing activities began at the Chiefs’ practice facility. Linebacker Justin Houston, safety Eric Berry and cornerback Marcus Peters were all absent from the voluntary workouts. This was not a cause for concern and allowed younger players to get valuable reps early in their rookie season.

Without the veterans around, sophomore defensive lineman Chris Jones took the opportunity to pick up the torch in competing with the offense. In jawing with rookie quarterback Patrick Mahomes, Jones told the gathered press on Tuesday:

"“We can’t touch the QB but we tell him we’re going to get you.” – Defensive lineman Chris Jones"

Several plays were made on the opening day practice that got the OTAs off to a solid start. Justin March and Terrance Mitchell were among those credited with a good opening day.
