The Kansas City Chiefs are back at the facility at 1 Arrowhead Drive and Alex Smith is well aware of his situation.

Kansas City Chiefs veteran quarterback Alex Smith spoke to the media recently as the team reconvened for offseason activities, and he was frank in his acceptance of the organization’s needs. At this point in his career, there is no reason not to be.

In his comments, Smith acknowledged the fact that the team is planning on bringing in a younger quarterback. When asked about the situation he responded to the gathered media, saying:

"“This is the NFL. I’ve been playing long enough. You pretty quickly realize we have three guys right now in the quarterback room, right? We’re a guy short. Someone’s coming in.”– Chiefs Quarterback Alex Smith"

As a veteran with years of experience in the NFL, Smith understands the situation for both him and the organization. It appears he expects and is comfortable with taking on the role of mentor for a newly acquired quarterback.

The NFL Draft is a week away and the teams could have several scenarios in which they end up with a new rookie signal caller.
