The New Orleans Saints will reportedly sign free agent quarterback Chase Daniel.

Chase Daniel has reportedly finally found a new home. After a bit of circular drama wherein the Philadelphia Eagles replaced Daniel with Nick Foles and Daniel’s inability to land a role as a potential starter in the NFL, he will return to to the New Orleans Saints, where he first found his place in the NFL behind Drew Brees.

Daniel backed up Brees from 2010 to 2012 before he signed with the Kansas City Chiefs for the next three seasons as the primary back-up to Alex Smith. Daniel left to join the Philadelphia Eagles in free agency just last season as he reportedly longed for a starting role in the NFL, but the Eagles moved up in the draft only two months later to take Carson Wentz, leaving Daniel in the No. 2 slot once again.

Daniel’s one-year deal gives him another chance to hit the market once again in search of that elusive starting role. It also gives the Saints more security behind Brees for a single season.

Luke McCown is likely a candidate to be released at this point, given that he’s fallen to the No. 3 slot for the Saints.
