The Kansas City Chiefs are making sure to comb through their own backyard when it comes to visiting college pro days, including Missouri State.

The Kansas City Chiefs were one of 14 NFL teams checking out the prospective talent at Missouri State University on Wednesday. Most likely drawing interest was All-American linebacker Dylan Cole.

Cole had a reported 32 bench press reps (225 pounds) and a 40-yard dash time of 4.56 seconds. Those are impressive numbers for a guy coming off of a season where he had 141 total tackles, the leading tackler in all of FCS football. He had eight tackles for a loss, 3 forced fumbles and 2 interceptions.

"According to MSU assistant coach Sean Coughlin, who helps coordinate MSU’s pro day each year, representatives from 14 NFL teams were in attendance, which matches the club’s 2011 Pro Day as Missouri State’s highest-attended showcase. Scouts from the Raiders, Cardinals, Broncos, Colts, Rams, Chiefs, Falcons, Panthers, Redskins, Jaguars, Eagles, Dolphins, Lions and Seahawks made the trek to Plaster Stadium as part of the NFL Pro Day series."

Cole is projected to be a potential 7th round draft choice at best and likely an undrafted free agent by CBS Sports. Given the Chiefs proximity to his home in Rogersville, they might get a leg up on the competition if they are able to offer him a contract even after the draft if no one ends up calling his name to have the young talented linebacker in training camp and OTAs.
