The Chiefs updated the status on several key players on Monday. Alex Smith is expected to be back at quarterback when the Chiefs play Carolina Sunday.  The expectation is that OLB Justin Houston will be activated by the Wednesday deadline. A roster move was made Monday evening to waive CB Terrance Mitchell. That may be the vacancy set to be filled by Houston.

Running back Spencer Ware remains in the concussion protocol but could be cleared this week. His return will be critical against the Panthers.

AFC Rankings Week 10

A few teams saw some movement this week in the AFC conference power rankings. While the Steelers and Bills both fell on the heels of a loss, Denver stays in the same spot after losing to the Raiders. Thank the other teams falling out for that one.

It is clear that the AFC West is the new power division in the AFC. I have said it for weeks, but it appears the AFC West is likely to send 3 teams to the postseason.

The Jaguars game for a poor outing for Kansas City, but there is a reason for their staying in the second slot. The Raiders just beat Denver and the Chiefs have already beaten the Raiders in Oakland. Until Kansas City and Denver meet on November 27th, the pecking order is clear. So, Kansas City is firmly in the #2 position behind New England.

Securing the home field advantage will be critical for the Chiefs chance at a Conference Championship.
