The Kansas City Chiefs will be without running back Spencer Ware and cornerback D.J. White this weekend against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

In news that has been expected since Monday, head coach Andy Reid announced that the Chiefs will not play Spencer Ware and D.J. White this weekend. White is out with a fractured hand, and while he was a limited participant in practice, he isn’t quite back yet. This means that Phillip Gaines and Steven Nelson will join Marcus Peters in the nickel defense.

Meanwhile, Ware sustained a concussion in the second quarter of Kansas City’s 30-14 win over the Indianapolis Colts. Ware is yet to pass the concussion protocol and has not been able to practice throughout the week. With Ware out, look for Charcandrick West to get the lion’s share of the work with newly-acuired Bishop Sankey to help carry the load.

Other than that, the injuries are fairly tame. Jaye Howard was bothered by a hip injury that kept him out of Wednesday and Thursday’s practice. However, he was able to get on the field on Friday. Derrick Johnson, Jeremy Maclin and Mitch Schwartz all have various injuries, but all appear ready to go for Jacksonville.

Finally, we already know that Justin Houston is still working his way back, and that Alex Smith won’t play despite being cleared of concussion symptoms.
