The news broke late on Wednesday that Jamaal Charles’ surgery went well

Not only has Charles had surgery already, as reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, but it is rumored to have been successful.

Wednesday afternoon, Chiefs Head Athletic Trainer Rick Burkholder told the assembled media that “Yesterday, Dr. Andrews decided he would do an exploratory surgery today on his right knee. It’s thought that he might have a meniscus tear in that knee. He had some damage in that meniscus before, and Dr. Andrews wants to see whether it has a little flap in it or something that’s causing his discomfort”.

It was scheduled for Wednesday afternoon and the rumors of success found the light of day.

After being cleared from the concussion protocol, the team is taking a cautious approach to Alex Smith. He will not play against the Jaguars. Foles will start and Bray will be the backup.

When asked about the decision, Smith replied “Ultimately that’s Coach’s decision, but certainly he and I have the relationship where I was very open and honest with him about everything. How I’m feeling, what I’m thinking and this was a decision that we came to together certainly.”
