The Kansas City Chiefs take on the Chicago Bears today in the final test of the preseason for most of the starters.

Since Andy Reid has been here the starters have mostly sat in the fourth preseason game so any of the guys fighting for a starting position must find a way to get it done against the Bears. There are several starting positions still open and those are what I’ll be focusing on while the starters are playing.

On offense the biggest battle for a starting position is for the second wide receiver. Chris Conley and Albert Wilson have been splitting time with the first-string offense to see if either could step forward and claim the job. To this point Conley appears to be in the lead after having an impressive couple of catches against the Rams.

Chris Conley is also the receiver that you should want to win the position. First he is only a second year player and he is still progressing. Conley is a much more physical receiver who has better deep speed than Wilson and is a much better WR blocking for the running backs. Chris has made vast improvements which were aided by Jeremy Maclin this offseason. His ability to attack the ball instead of letting it come to him and his blocking has also improved.

Albert Wilson doesn’t have near the size that Conley but offers more versatility at the wide receiver position. Wilson ran exclusively in the slot against the Rams, even after Maclin was ejected. We are seeing a shift of his position to slot receiver as opposed to being on the outside.

I think this is Conley’s job to lose.
