The Kansas City Chiefs and Eric Berry’s agent have turned this negotiation into a circus.

Kansas City general manager John Dorsey has done a great job with the Chiefs since coming to the team in 2013. The Chiefs have reached the postseason twice and won nine games the other season, all while retaining Travis Kelce, Derrick Johnson, Allen Bailey, Anthony Sherman, Jaye Howard, Tamba Hali, Dustin Colquitt, Ron Parker, Justin Houston, Josh Mauga, Alex Smith and Jamaal Charles on either new deals or extensions.

However, the negotiations between Dorsey and Berry’s agent, Joel Segal, are nothing short of a total mess. After optimism ruled the early morning, the beginning of the afternoon is now seeing major flaws.

At some point, Dorsey has to put his best foot forward and leave it at that. Either Segal accepts and this thing is over, or he doesn’t and Berry earns $10.8 million on the tag this season.

Either way, this negotiation is not textbook, for one reason or another, in any fashion.
