The Kansas City Chiefs have a bright future according to ESPN.

Kansas City is a team that many believe is capable of winning the Super Bowl this season, and apparently the future will provide that opportunity as well. According to ESPN’s future power rankings, the Chiefs come in 11th.

This seems like a fair ranking. The Chiefs have some very good, young players in the prime of their careers including Marcus Peters, Mitch Schwartz, Mitch Morse, Justin Houston, Eric Berry, Ron Parker, Dontari Poe, Allen Bailey, Jaye Howard, Travis Kelce and Jeremy Maclin.

However, there are some very important pieces that are getting up there in age including Derrick Johnson, Tamba Hali, Jamaal Charles and Alex Smith.

Perhaps Smith is the lynchpin to this entire ranking. Smith is 32 years old and signed through next year, but will he stay in the red and gold? The Chiefs could cut him next season and save $13 million, but that would mean either rolling with Tyler Bray, Aaron Murray or a rookie. I simply can’t see that. As much as some will hate it, I think Smith re-signs and is back for another 3-4 years.

What do you think, Addicts? Is this ranking fair, too high or too low?
