The AFC West should be a tight three-team race involving the Kansas City Chiefs.

In 2016, we can expect the AFC West to be very good. The San Diego Chargers are almost universally regarded as the worst team of the four, and they might be able to win the AFC South.

According to Oddsshark, the Denver Broncos are still the team to beat. The defending super Bowl champions are sitting at +165 to win the West for the sixth straight time, while the Chiefs are barely off the pace at +175. As for the Oakland Raiders – the preseason darlings of every media analyst everywhere – are at +275. San Diego is +800.

Basically, Oddsshark is saying that Denver and Kansas City are equals while Oakland is a legitimate but distant third while San Diego has no shot. The Chiefs should be feeling very good about their chances this year for a few reasons. One, the roster is basically the same save the swap of Sean Smith and Mitch Schwartz. Second, the Broncos are starting Mark Sanchez or Paxton Lynch.

Kansas City’s defense has to be jumping around celebrating, crying and hugging each other. Can you imagine what Justin Houston, Marcus Peters, Dontari Poe, Tamba Hali and Eric Berry are thinking when they watch of that duo? Championship.
