The 2016 Kansas City Chiefs may look a little bit different from the team that finally ended the playoff drought in 2015, beating the Houston Texans.

How will they look different? Well the sheer amount of free agents, more importantly unrestricted free agents that the Chiefs are facing in the coming months. Some of the best and longest tenured players are looking to get new deals to hopefully stay with the team. Players like free safety Eric Berry, cornerback Sean Smith, linebackers Derrick Johnson and Tamba Hali, and more, will be looking to secure another deal with KC.

The sad reality of the Chiefs situation is that not all of these players can come back. However, the Chiefs are in better cap space than in 2015, in fact the numbers, provided by overthecap.com; speak volumes for what they were able to do in the course of a year. According to the site, in 2015 the Chiefs had only $2.9 million and some change for the 2015 season. However, they are sitting at $28 million going into this coming off season.

There is plenty of space to once again sign some of these players who were crucial to the success of 2015. But, the NFL is first and foremost a business and decisions coming up for the Chiefs may not be what the fans of the franchise will want to see. So with all of this in mind, let’s take at three players who might be on the way out of Kansas City, in some of the worst case scenarios.
