Kansas City Chiefs: Will the offensive line hold up?

The Kansas City Chiefs did what every NFL team wants to do in their third preseason game when they dominated the Tennessee Titans on both sides of the ball en route to a 34-10 victory on Friday.

The third preseason game is typically the one where teams come closest to regular-season action in terms of their play-calling and personnel. So it was a very encouraging sign that the Chiefs were able to come away with a convincing win. The first-string offense looked the best it has all preseason and the defense continued its dominant play. So the question of the day is, will K.C. be able to carry this same success over into the regular season?

I believe the answer to that question rests in the hands of the offensive line.

At this point I’ve basically become a broken record that just keeps harping on the offensive line over, and over, and over again. It’s not due to a lack of originality. I simply don’t see any other areas of this team that aren’t playoff ready.

I don’t want this post to be a discussion of Alex Smith at all, I’ll just say that if the offensive line is solid I trust Smith to lead the Chiefs to the playoffs. If the line is bad I don’t think Smith is one of those few elite quarterbacks that can overcome it.
