Live Thread: Kansas City Chiefs at Buffalo Bills

It’s all about the tie-breakers, baby.

The Chiefs and Bills meet up for one of the biggest games of the week when it comes to playoff implications. A Chiefs win today will propel the Chiefs odds to nearly 66%, according to FiveThirtyEight. A Chiefs loss and the odds of making the playoffs decrease from 50% to 32%.

So, yeah, big game.

Fortunately for the Chiefs, they are playing excellent football right now. Joe Mays is back to play middle linebacker and help slow down the opponent’s rushing attack, the one area the Chiefs defense has been weak.

Buffalo is dealing with some injuries to key players. Fred Jackson is questionable with a groin strain but reports say he will not play today (though things could always change in that department by game time).

Sammy Watkins, Buffalo’s talented rookie receiver, is also dealing with a groin injury and did not practice on Thursday or Friday. Even if he doesn’t play, he won’t be 100%.

C.J. Spillier is on injured reserve so he will not play.

If Spiller and Jackson (likely) are out and Watkins is hobbling then who do you fear in Buffalo’s offense? Keeping this a low scoring game should be a possibility for the Chiefs defense, which should take a lot of pressure off the Chiefs offense to score points.

Kansas City needs this win and some small things are bouncing in their favor. The Chiefs must capitalize and catapult themselves into the driver’s seat for an AFC wild card berth.

Prediction: Chiefs 17, Bills 10
