Tamba Hali Out To Sack Ebola

Tamba Hali is aiming for the biggest sack of his life: Ebola.

A native from Gbarnga, Liberia, Hali has announced that he will join Heart to Heart International, a local humanitarian organization, to show his support for the ebola relief efforts in his home country.

All this spells trouble for ebola, the deadly disease currently ravaging countries in West Africa. When Hali decides he’s going tackle something, whether it is a quarterback or a contagious disease, he will likely succeed.

All joking aside, hopefully Hali’s support and celebrity as a professional athlete and a native of Liberia will bring some much-needed perspective to the ebola hysteria in the U.S. and turn attention to combatting the spread of ebola abroad.

From the press release out of Heart to Heart:

"Liberia, the country hit hardest by the West African epidemic of Ebola hemorrhagic fever, has reported 3,834 Ebola cases, with 2,069 deaths according to an update from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) on October 3, 2014. Heart to Heart International launched Operation Ebola in September to address the urgent nature of the Ebola epidemic. Using information gained from an advance team, Heart to Heart International has developed a plan to help combat the spread of the virus.Dr. Lee Norman, Chief Medical Officer at The University of Kansas Hospital, will join the group to add perspective on the Ebola virus and the recent outbreak in West Africa as well as other cases that have developed throughout the world."
