After scoring three touchdowns and accumulating more than 100 yards in total offense in the Chiefs dismantling of the New England Patriots, the voters saw fit to give Jamaal Charles the AFC Offensive Player of the Week award. This is the fourth time he has won the honor and the first time since he posted five touchdowns – four receiving – against the Oakland Raiders last season.
The fourth Offensive Player of the Week award ties Charles with Larry Johnson and Priest Holmes for the most player of the week awards by a running back in Chiefs history. I’d like to see him break that record before the bye week, no?
One final note, Charles is the first player since 1972 to have at least 90 rushing yards, a rushing touchdown, and two or more receiving touchdowns in Monday Night Football history.
