Time for us to weigh-in on all thing Chiefs. The greater nfl metropolis at large is under heavy fire and it’s time to take a stand. Let’s throw down and see what we come up with.

Around the AFC West Block and Back

San Diego Chargers

Who’s the best looking team in the AFC West so far? Shh… hint… it’s not them-thare Denver Donkeys. The 2-1 San Diego Chargers have lost to the Arizona Cardinals by one point on the Cards opening day at home 17-18, then they beat the defending world champion Seattle Seahawks 30-21 and traveled to Buffalo to whoop up on the Bills 22-10. Sure, their offense looks good with Rivers and Gates playing back yard pitch and catch like giggly teenagers but it’s their defense that has improved and that’s why they’re 10th in the league in total defense. It doesn’t matter where you play the Seahawks, anytime you can score 30 points on that defense… and… hold their offense to 21 points, you’re doing alright. With the Jags, the Jet and the Raiders up next on the Chargers schedule you could say the stars are aligning and don’t be surprised if they find their way to 5-1 consequently.

Denver Broncos

The Broncos have beaten the Colts 31-24 and the Chiefs 24-17 before once again succoming to their nemsis… and everyone’s favorite to repeat as Super Bowl Champions… the Seattle Seahawks. After watching the Broncos play the Chiefs and the Seahawks, they don’t appear to be a confident group to me. Yes, they have many pieces that can help them win regular season games but they currently seem to be lacking a knockout punch or that one element they can count on in a pinch… to get them over the top. I used to think Manning could do that. Now, I’m not so sure. They look very beatable and their games with the Chargers and their second game against the Chiefs at Arrowhead will be telling. The Broncos have a Bye week this week then take on the Cards, the Jets and the 49ers.

Oakland Raiders

The Raiders are playing to the future. Okay, they gave the Patriots a good game but I have to believe from what I’ve seen that the Pats are a team in major transition. In 2013 coach Belichick put the new back in New England by employing 12 rookies on their roster and had 9 other players with one or two years experience. That makes 40% of their roster who had two or less years experience in 2013. The Pats have 8 more rookies in 2014. One must question if Belichick’s plan has more to do with age than talent at this point. The Raiders look like they have a brighter future than the Pats at this point especially with QB Tom Brady looking so pedestrian in his first three games. Here’s hoping that translates to a big victory next Monday night at Arrowhead for the Chiefs. The Raiders host three game in a row next and their schedule is: Dolphins, Bye, Chargers and Cards and they could actually win one of those.

Kansas City Chiefs

As much as this 3 game season has been a mixed bag of performances, personal losses, depth gains, ugly losses, and strange transitions, the men in red and gold find themselves only one game out of first place. If the Chiefs had lost on Sunday and the Broncos had won, then the Chiefs would have been three games back and this season would for all intents and purposes been a mathematical Everest to overcome. What a boon a win can make. Next, K.C. hosts the Pats, then travel to the 49ers, take a Bye Week, and then travel to the Chargers.
