TIGHT ENDS EVERYWHERE

We discussed earlier in the week about how the Chiefs could be very good in two tight end formations because of the different things Anthony Fasano and Travis Kelce have flashed in the first two weeks of the preseason. Alex Smith has always been a guy who likes to throw to the tight end, and his production with Vernon Davis shows Smith can make some big plays with big receivers.

What we haven’t seen much of so far this preseason is having both Kelce and Fasano on the field at the same time. Both players are good in the blocking game and the Chiefs could use those skills with the offensive line wobbling a bit from poor performances and suspensions. The more potential pass protection the Chiefs can get for Smith, the better.

Additionally, having those two on the field should help with Andy Reid’s screen system that has struggled to get off the ground in the first two weeks. Two athletic big guys who can get to the edge and down field quickly should open up a lot of things for Jamaal Charles, De’Anthony Thomas, and Knile Davis to get some extra yards. It would be nice to see this happen once or twice tonight.
