2. Starting Right Guard

Key Figures: Zach Fulton, Rishaw Johnson, Ricky Henry, Jeff Linkenbach

At Stake: Starting gig

Projected Leader: Zach Fulton

A mass exodus of offensive line depth during free agency has left the Chiefs with a hole at starting right guard. Fortunately, the team has found a few players who should be able to step in a fill that role very effectively.

Fulton, a sixth round pick in this year’s draft, has had an excellent camp so far and may be running away with the starting gig. He’s shown an ability to learn the offense quickly and handle the speed and power of the NFL game. In addition, Fulton has shown his versatility by taking snaps at center with Eric Kush missing some time due to injury and the birth of his son.

A good night for Fulton and he could be the runaway leader at guard.

If not Fulton, then Rishaw Johnson is the man. He performed well in his one start at the end of last season against San Diego and has held his own in training camp. The Chiefs would be in good shape if he won the starting spot.

Ricky Henry and Jeff Linkenbach seem like long shots right now but both could end up making the team as backups if they prove they can hold down the fort during their time in the lineup.
