Kansas City Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid

If you were like me, you liked Romeo. A seemingly good defensive coach who never really found his calling as the main guy. So it was with mixed feelings when Crennel got fired, but ultimately one could see that coming from a mile away.

If you are also like me you got super excited to hear the former Eagles Coach Andy Reid was coming over to be the new head coach. Finally a coach with winnings ways coming to the Chiefs.

When the start of 2013 began no one could have expected what the Chiefs were able to accomplish with Reid at the helm. 9-0 is still baffling to me. Now some would call that the benefit of an “easy” schedule. I tend to think of it more as a coach bringing in a winning attitude into an organization.

Without having to relive the horrid end of the season, there is no doubt that Reid stepped into a team ripe with talent and found the best way to utilize that talent and lead them to the playoffs. The bad part was that we were not able to get that elusive playoff win in a system that seemed predictable at times. If Reid wants to gain the edge he will need to find a way to spread the ball around and allow the play makers that are on this Chiefs team a chance.

As for next year, I look for Reid to continue to work on that winning attitude as he and General Manager John Dorsey continue to find the right players for the job. Now will we see the same magic we saw in 2013? I don’t think so. What we will see is a change in the way Andy looks at the game. With power house offenses like the Denver Broncos, and the San Diego Chargers, yes they are getting there, Reid will look to continue with what he started as he takes this team to hopefully the next level in 2014.
