The Morning Fix: Marcus Cooper, Offensive Line, Jameis Winston

Many people need their coffee to get up and going in the morning.  Here at Arrowhead Addict, we understand that for a Chiefs fan, coffee is simply not enough.

Here’s all that’s happening around Chiefs Kingdom today.

Welcome to The Morning Fix.

Good morning, Addicts.

Excellent stuff from Matt Verderame on Marcus Cooper.

The groupthink is that Cooper was torched by Peyton Manning and Philip Rivers in all four meetings last season. However, groupthink is often wrong. I went back and watched every pass play of all four games, with this piece focusing on the two matchups against the Broncos.

Terez A. Paylor wrote about Donald Stephenson and Jeff Allen’s offseason work.

Football can be a weirdly provincial profession — coaches can be obsessive about who is teaching their guys what — but Chiefs coach Andy Reid, who once pursued Bentley as a free agent in Philadelphia, essentially said he trusts Bentley.

Sports On Earth has a writeup on the Chiefs offseason.

Maybe the sun will finally rise for one of the bench receivers. Perhaps Davis will take such a load off Charles that he can contribute another 70 catches while Davis grinds out the heavy-duty yardage. Perhaps Bowe’s production will reach the same time zone as his cap number. The fourth alternative –Charles leading the Chiefs in everything, until he collapses in a heap at an inopportune moment — is not a recipe for success.

Jameis Winston may not come out of college for the 2015 NFL Draft according to his dad. He’ll have baseball leverage if he waits for the 2016 draft.

Two non-football stories:

- Isaiah Austin will have to forgo an NBA career because of a rare medical condition.

- The Royals need to sign this guy.
