Kansas City Chiefs: Power of The Fan

This past weekend I was able to make my way back east for a vacation. Let me tell you, it was a welcomed change to go back to the land of Red and Gold from the nasty Orange that is plastered everywhere in my new hometown of Ogallala, Nebraska.

It really got me to think about what being a fan means and what will follow may seem like the rambling thoughts of a mad man, but maybe I am mad.

Can you think of your favorite player when you were a kid? I can Derrick “The Attack Cat” Thomas, side note if you collected football cards when you were a kid like me, there was a Halloween collection and he was the ‘Attack Cat’. I can remember just hardcore cheering for my Chiefs when I a kid. I did not know much about football. I knew the basics. Most importantly I knew how much my team winning and losing meant to me.

When my Chiefs were winning I was happy and excited, even back then I knew beating the Oakland Raiders was a big deal. When they were losing I was sad. Sad that they had to go through that, sad that they knew that they not only let themselves down but they let their fans down. I still feel that way.

Being a fan is not hard. You find something you relate to, something that means a lot to you, something you root for. The power that a fan holds is unmeasurable by normal standards. There are the die-hard fans that would do anything for their team. You have the washy fans, you know they type, when their team is winning they are all about their team and when they start to lose its all over. The loyalty of those types of fans are always in question. You have the casual fans, they tend to root for their team at certain points or when they face a certain team, though I think this type may be more of a college football type of fan.

I guess the main reason I am writing about this today is to really say thank you to you, the readers and the fans. I know I cannot speak only for myself when I say that we do this because we love to, but also because of you. Sharing your thoughts with us and engaging us on our daily content and just being active on this site. So in conclusion thank you guys for coming to our site, reading out content and being apart of the many discussions we have here at Arrowhead Addict.

Take care, and as always….GO CHIEFS!
