Dee Ford Selects Derrick Thomas’ Old College Number

Will Dee Ford be the next Derrick Thomas? This seems to be the goal for Ford. Ford has selected a new jersey number and comes with a lot of significance.

One has to love the nod to DT and the desire of Ford to be one of the greatest football players to ever play the game. This is an insane goal but this is what you want out of your first round pick – all of your picks really. He may not be the guy many of us wanted or thought the Chiefs should take, but Ford seems to have the drive to make us all forget we didn’t want him.

And it looks like Ford is off to a quick start.

Two years from now, anybody who questioned this pick will long have forgotten that fact.

      *fingers crossed*

While I have high hopes for Murray, your #1 pick picking off your #5 pick is a good thing.

I love a player who has a sense of history of the game and respects that history.

At first I heard him speak and can’t say I was particularly impressed. Then, he started saying how he was a better rusher than Clowney. It wasn’t just bluster, but he talked about watching the tape and backing up what he said with concrete reasons. LOVE that. Student of the game, knows that talent isn’t enough, that you need technique. I’m excited to see this guy on the field.

This guy is f’n awesome!!! I told Nick Marshall we’d love to have Ford last spring before he left to Auburn and couldn’t wait til we draft him in 2015! Nick just laughed…said that would be cool.

So far half of that plan has been implemented.
