‘Tis the season for highlight videos recapping the season that is finished and looking forward to the new season ahead. Every once in a while there is a video on the interwebs that catches our eye and we present it to you for it’s proper undressing.
This one comes to us via YouTube user “TheFeataXe” who has put together a six minute video of some of the Chiefs best plays from the 2013 (and ’14?) season.
THREE FACTORS
Song(s): “Still Speedin'” by Sway & Kano; “Level Up” by Sway
I’ve never heard these songs. I am not the cool. Sadz.
The songs were fine but everybody rap or something “intense” like jock rock or whatever. I’d love to see a highlight video done to a Mozart or Bon Iver or something totally weird. Think outside the box, people.
Editing: Solid.
Whatever program was used was good enough and there wasn’t a who bunch of unnecessary transition graphics to kill the vibe. Additionally, the video footage was of good quality and properly (and probably illegally) ripped from the internet. It should be noted the user did credit NFL.com and KCChiefs.com in the description so good for him/her.
Choosing not to go with cell phone video or good “recording your tv” video for this particular highlight package was a good decision.
Highlight Selection: Meh.
Not a lot of creativity here. There was not story told here as much as it was “we are going to find every single positive play from the season and put it in a video.” I guess it is decent as a yearbook kind of thing, but I’m not sure it is a video I’d watch to get myself pumped up for a game.
Overall I give the video a B-minus. Solid editing and content, with not-so-inspiring music or highlight choices.
