Chiefs Free Agent Watch 2014: Jameel McClain Another LB Possibility

Another linebacker was the victim of roster cuts and became a salary cap casualty earlier today. Inside linebacker Jameel McClain, formerly of the Baltimore Ravens, is now in the unemployment line looking for work.

With D’Qwell Jackson of the Browns scheduled to visit five NFL teams including the Denver Broncos and Tennessee Titans — and not the Kansas City Chiefs as far as we can tell — McClain might be a better possibility to fill that ever present void next to Derrick Johnson.

McClain is not going to be a world-beater by far and won’t blow up the stat book, but he could be another temporary stop-gap to fill that spot either while Nico Johnson continues his improvement or the Chiefs find the permanent solution at inside linebacker. In 10 games last season, he had 52 tackles and a forced fumble. Either way, the team is going to have to do something, as right now, Johnson and Johnson are the only two players listed at the ILB position on the roster.
