When your organization starts winning in the NFL, teams that haven’t been as fortunate often come knocing in an attempt to steam your brain-trust away.

Recent reports have indicated that Kansas City Chiefs director of pro personnel, Chris Ballard, is the favorite to lans the Gm gig in Tampa Bay with the Bucs. However, according to a recent report from Jason Cole of the National Football Post, Ballard is likely staying put.

From NFP:

"However, Smith’s control over personnel may leave the Chiefs with the ability to deny Ballard the chance to interview for the position. Technically, the job would not be considered a full general manager position, a source said.Or as one source put it: “It would be the same job he has now.”"

This isn’t likely to be the last time the Chiefs have other NFL teams attempting to interview their staff. Gm John Dorsey and head coach Andy Reid would probably like to keep the gang together but most NFL teams don’t try to block their employees from getting promotions with other organizations.

If the Chiefs continue to win, most of the credit will be given to Dorsey and Reid but better jobs will likely be available to their lieutenants.
