Report: Chiefs' Ballard Could Stay In KC

When your organization starts winning in the NFL, teams that haven’t been as fortunate often come knocing in an attempt to steam your brain-trust away.

Recent reports have indicated that Kansas City Chiefs director of pro personnel, Chris Ballard, is the favorite to lans the Gm gig in Tampa Bay with the Bucs. However, according to a recent report from Jason Cole of the National Football Post, Ballard is likely staying put.

From NFP:

However, Smith’s control over personnel may leave the Chiefs with the ability to deny Ballard the chance to interview for the position. Technically, the job would not be considered a full general manager position, a source said.

Or as one source put it: “It would be the same job he has now.”

This isn’t likely to be the last time the Chiefs have other NFL teams attempting to interview their staff. Gm John Dorsey and head coach Andy Reid would probably like to keep the gang together but most NFL teams don’t try to block their employees from getting promotions with other organizations.

If the Chiefs continue to win, most of the credit will be given to Dorsey and Reid but better jobs will likely be available to their lieutenants.

Any reports on teams coming in to swipe Kendrick Lewis?? I’ll throw in a Chilis gift card

    • toperspective

No swipe necessary. Just pick him up on the curb.

  • Stacy D. Smith

    Hope nobody comes for Toub.

Do you think he would be HC material? Can’t imagine him leaving to be STC for another team unless we had a coaching cleansing like last year.

      • Stacy D. Smith

He’s pretty highly thought of around the league. Most people think he’s ultimately headed for a head coaching gig.

Too bad nobody takes Sutton. That guy has no clue how to make adjustments in game. I don’t see how he can keep his job.

He sure was bad the first 9 games of the year….. could the other coaches in the NFL evaluated what was on the Chiefs defensively and attacked its weakness. Or where did our 5 probowler disappear during the end of the season….could not deliver one stop in last half of colt’s game.

      • KCMikeG

Sarcasm much? Everyone is assuming he didn’t adjust because the defense struggled. Sutton can adjust all he wants but if the players don’t execute then it still won’t work.

Ah, ye olde chicken versus egg theory.

Lewis can’t tackle and can only guard 1/4 of the time. We definitely need a #2 WR to compliment Bowe and a FS that can get shit done!

      • Phillip Maxwell

It helped that our defense was going against second string QBs in a good portion of those first 9 wins.

    • Travis Forsyth

Sutton can’t help that his defensive backfield sucks..aside from Eric Berry of course

Sutton’s so talented and multidimensional that we didn’t really get torched twice each by River’s, Manning, and Luck; some of us are just simply haters, and enjoy making mountains outta mole-hills… Heck if it weren’t fer Bob, we woulda got blown out in all 6 losses, right? We should all be so thankful just to have been allowed to play against such formidable superstars!

How long has it been since we won a playoff game? How many TD’s were we up by in the 2nd half against the Colts? How many sacks did we have in the last half of the season?? What was our record in the final 8 gms??? Oh silly me……………….can’t be Sutton’s fault … right????

Why the mystery around the Davis injury? When do we get an update w/ all the injury’s??
