Kansas City Chiefs: The Bounce Back Win

Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

In the NFL, every given Sunday goes one of two ways. You win the game or you lose.

For the Kansas City Chiefs to come out of Denver with their first loss of the year was both a success and a failure. It was a success not because of the result of the game, but rather the result of the year. It cannot be stressed enough that the Chiefs have turned around, and in such a short amount of time. So while the loss hurts, even more since it was to Denver, the fact they are 9-1 in the season is a success no matter how you look at it.

It was also a failure. The team had “Mile High” hopes of walking out with a win, but they were not able to stop the Denver train. The team played hard and gave it their best, but out of Denver with their heads low, resulting in the first loss of the season.

This week the Kansas City Chiefs return to Arrowhead where they are still undefeated. They face a slumping Chargers team that is very familiar with the Arrowhead crowd. The most important aspect of this game is something that the Chiefs know they need… The bounce back win.

The bounce back win is important for one main reason,

It gives the team that is able to come back from the loss, the confidence to push through the next game, and help to change the mindset of the team.

Losing sucks no matter how you look at it, but the Chiefs have the opportunity to not only come back and win strong, but Denver has a matchup with Tom Brady and the Patriots, who always seem to have their number. This could result in a loss for Denver and push the Chiefs back to the best record, in not only the AFC, but in the divisional race as well.

This game can also have home field advantage in the playoffs implications, something that cannot be underestimated. The home crowd has definitely been a factor in the games played there, even more so now that they are crowned the loudest in the NFL.

For the 2013 Chiefs they not only need to come back home and win, but win decisively, and being at home after a tough loss is the best way for the Chiefs to gain their confidence back, and keep themselves in the race for the post-season.

What do you think Addicts? Is this weekend important for the team? What are the results of the game going to be after the tough loss?

Sound off below….GO CHIEFS!!!

Chargers O line is much improved this year so they will be a good test for our D, even at home. The next 2 weeks are huge for us. Definate potential for a Denver loss in New England. No matter what chiefs have what it takes to go deep into the playoffs. Gonna be a good finish.

    • RepOurChiefs

Indeed. A photo finish in the making.

  • Chris Tarrants

If the crowd starts up early and sends a jolt of energy into our defense, and the whole squad comes out pissed off and looking to make a statement then not only will the bolts be in for a long day but somebody might get hurt in the process! <—– I hate using that word!!! It gives me the Pioli shivers

  • Abel Tovar

The frauds have been exposed! It’s all downhill from here

    • RepOurChiefs

Took 10 games to expose what sir? Lmao

      • Abel Tovar

10 games but only one vs a good team exposed that fraudulent defense that’s been feasting on back up QBs

        • RepOurChiefs

Aaaand every team played had a backup? LACK of pass rush hardly says exposure. .lol js

          • Abel Tovar

9 wins vs 5 back ups. You should be proud.

          • RepOurChiefs

Oh im not..the offense sucks bronco nuts!..lol But the D has carried. Trust..Im not a bl8nd fan.

          • T.Hagen

Don’t fall for the Denver fan bs the donkey’s will choke like they did last year.

          • RepOurChiefs

Its Chiefs time. Denver had their bid.

          • Abel Tovar

Chiefs time? lol. How stupid. Sorry but you have a QB that’s been outscored by your defense FIVE times. That’s not a winning formula buddy. If you guys get down by 10 or more, you’re done.

          • RepOurChiefs

Lol.. Chiefs Time! Rolls off your tongue huh? Ha! You’re funny! So emotional.

          • Abel Tovar

Emotional? lol. I guess happy laughter is an emotion. These teams are BOTH frauds, KC more than DEN though. Neither would hang with the teams in the NFC West. They would get smashed on. Denver at least would have a shot. KC would get BLOWN OUT.

          • RepOurChiefs

Thats fair. I dont think either team is fraudulent though. One is a media darling and the other a disliked underdog. Niether presents themselves other than that. One wins easily..the other struggles to win. Secret to no1.

          • Abel Tovar

I wouldn’t say secret to no one because someone in here referenced Alex Smith as a top 10 QB.

            Delusional anyone?

The Super Bowl winner is coming out of the NFC, probably the NFC West.

          • RepOurChiefs

Wow..yea that wld be a tad delusional. Lmao. SUPERBOWL!.Hell i wldve been happy to go 8-8. Anything beyond that after a horrid 2-14 season is a success to me. So im having fun with it. I am in noway having bowl visions. Lol But who do you think out the NFC is best to win the big show?

          • Abel Tovar

It’s either between NO, SEA and SF. I would love to say my Niners have the best chance but unless the offense picks it up, they aren’t going to go far in the playoffs. But SEA has the same problem on the road and NO should have lost the last two weeks but are still tough at home. SEA and SF have the best chance to beat a team like the Broncos because they can get to the QB without blitzing while dropping back 7 into coverage.

          • mintymonkeynuts

            Put a fork in sf!!
Alex smith was the man behind the scenes

          • Abel Tovar

            How you figure?

          • RepOurChiefs

SEA is frickin scary good. A friend of mine called them his “sleeper” team and my retort was “sleeper?…if anyone’s sleeping on SEA…now wld be a good time to choke themselves”……. You’re alright Tovar. Enjoy game day bro.

          • Abel Tovar

You’re alright yourself! I enjoyed this discussion. Hell of a game today!

          • RepOurChiefs

No doubt. My team lost obviously but im not eeeeven upset. Was a hell of game.

          • penlady

            Abel is maximum fraudster.

          • T.Hagen

Go bobble on a denver thread numbnut.

          • Abel Tovar

Look at the little baby crying because his team got destroyed by Manning. I’m not even a Denver fan. Just pointing out the truth. So if you’re heart broken now, get ready to become suicidal in the next couple of weeks.

          • T.Hagen

Come on now you know you are a donkey fan don’t be shy.

          • Deadmeat

Wow, the Donkeys only beat one team over .500 and lost to the other one. So, the Donkeys must suck too, first and third in the power rankings, FRAUDS. Wonder how your going to handle losing in NE, without your homefield advantage. Poor, poor Manning buckles under pressure. :( At least Eli gets better when his back is against a wall, why he has 2 rings. You only got a couple more years of winning, then you will be crying, “We are rebuilding!”. Already can hear it. Oh yeah, beating us by 10 isn’t destroying anything. You must have a concussion by Manning’s ….. hitting you in the forehead. When you get over your concussion like symptoms, you will come to reality. The season isn’t over yet.

          • A1 Yola

Destroyed? Denver’s punter never had to kick that many times before. Keep it real Dude, Denver fans didn’t stop sitting on their hands until the fourth quarter. After that, it was over.

          • penlady

hey bitching abel. geewiz. give some helpful analysis or you go suicidal.

        • A1 Yola

A few of those Back-ups are still starting.

          • RepOurChiefs

            I know right! Lol

      • penlady

aBEL TOVAR IS JUST A STUPID JERK

        • RepOurChiefs

          And delusional as well

    • Mark Bustamante

So how long have you been a troll
      UN-able

      • Abel Tovar

Mark, since when is pointing out the truth considered being a troll? The Chiefs are frauds. They’ve played garbage competition and got whooped by a real team.

    • Todd Worrel

He’s a 40 whiner troll. The top feels so much better than the bottom. How’s kap?

      • Abel Tovar

The top Todd? Last time I checked you guys are in 2nd place in your division, just like my Niners are. Kap is doing great and he’s only getting better. Feels good to have a QB that actually got to the Super Bowl and didn’t choke in the NFC championship game like Alex.

        • penlady

your 49er QB is just 2 years younger than Alex, inherited a power packed team which was dubbed ” the most powerful o line” during the start of the season. turns out you are still blind. kaep is not a smart QB, just as you are not a smart fan ( btw, this is coming from a 49er season ticket holder ). but well, it comes from the jerk coach harbaugh. if kaep was good, he should have started the 2012 season. but no, they courted peyton, then back to alex, and harjerk was blinded by the pistol offense, which turned out to be just a fluke because the nfl ruled that qb’s this year cannot be protected when in the read option. so now greg roman is blamed for his play calling when greg roman had the same play call as before, only alex smith did a better job executing at the qb position. YOU ARE PROUD OF A QB who has 4-5 times in the red zone to win the superbowl and had 4-5 delay of games during a superbowl? kaep was the reason they lost, dumBEL. Kaep is running like a scared chicken s right now, cannot make intelligent decisions. i guess you belong together huh.

Alex won the games the first half of the season with a lot of those games at the 40′ish mark, and he won the championships, kyle choked it twice. now the chiefs are the underdogs, they dont have the many options of tight ends and receivers yet they are doing well. as for the easy sched, i do not agree. 49ers vs panthers, 49ers vs colts- they were supposed to be easy games. Alex did not also choke in Seatle. He actually won in Seattle because he can executive plays. Kaep gets buried in Seattle. Get out of commentating with your soon to be forgotten kaepernick. Harbaugh the jerk will soon replace him without a flinch.

          • Abel Tovar

Slow down you Smith Sympathizer. Two years younger means nothing. Alex has 7 more years experience and is still less accomplished than Kap…and Kap still has a lot of learning to do. I’m not blind, I saw with my very own eyes Kap take this team farther than Alex ever had. Alex had this same team and all he did was win ONE playoff game and then choke in the NFC championship. Alex was a pathetic 1-13 on 3rd downs in that game and an abysmal 5-28 on 3rd downs in both playoff games combined. While on the other hand, Kap destroyed GB almost all by himself, he carried the Niners back from a 17 point deficit to defeat the Falcons and led the niners back in the SB just to fall short 5 yards. So yes Kap failed to score from the 5 yard line in the Super Bowl but the point was, he was IN the Super Bowl. Alex couldn’t make it with this same team.

And if you’re going to go call Harbaugh a jerk, then go kill yourself now. Do us REAL Niner fans a favor because Harbaugh is the reason this franchise has turned around and been so successful in such a short time. Harbaugh MADE Alex Smith and saved his career by backing him when no one else would. Alex was on his way out of the league until Harbaugh saved him. Harbaugh gave him his style to be successful with because every other coach made the mistake of thinking Alex could actually carry a team. Harbaugh knew better.

Even as bad as Kap has been playing, his stats are almost IDENTICAL to Alex while having a better rating. lol. What’s that say about Alex if Kap’s worse is still better than Alex’s best?

  • Mark Bustamante

Every game in the NFL is an important game. No win is a given. The Chieds must bring their “A” game and take advantage of the turnovers/ ball possessions they get. I know Andy will have them ready. 26-20 CHIEFS. GO CHIEFS

  • trinity

Yeah, i don’t see the chiefs winning the division. I don’t agree with the people saying the chiefs got “exposed”. That would mean their flaw was a secret, and it was not. The chiefs just proved what was already known. Great defense, with a mediocre offense led by a game manager. They simply will not get it done against high powered offenses. So i think they will get the 5 seed and lose.

    • penlady

every play i was right. alex smith will win a superbowl. it is bound to happen. 49ers will suffer for awhile. sad… because the core team ( gore, davis, willis) deserve to win but the team will disintegrate before they win a superbowl. you can call alex smith anything you want, fact is, he has tuned you out and he just wins games and trinity is a sore loser.

      • trinity

Sore loser? I’m a Denver fan. Lol in order for me to be a sore loser, i would actually have to lose to you guys. You’re delusional if you think Alex smith is winning the superbowl. You say all he does is “win”. In reality, all he does is ride good defenses and good running games to a lot of victories, while largely staying out of the way. He’s not going to win a damn thing for you guys. Face it.

        • RepOurChiefs

He’s good with his legs too. Not saying he taking us to the promise land..lol just pointing out his dedication.

        • penlady

Alex will win a SB. 9er fan and Alex fan here. You do not know Alex as much as we do. You are not Denver the great for long. Alex can win big games. You haven’t seen him as much as we do. Today , he won the game. Defense lost it. You are Tri-know-nothing. Denver will not have P Manning for long. Getting older.

          • trinity

LOL!!! You sit there on a two game skid and tell me i know nothing? That is laughable. When this defense fails, the entire team will fail. Because Alex will not win games for you. This was proven last week, today, and for years in san Francisco before harbaugh got there. If the defense doesn’t win for him, Alex smith is a loser. He had one fluke game today against the choking chargers where he put points up. And he still lost because the defense couldn’t carry him the rest of the way. Lol just face reality

          • penlady

Tri-Know-Nothing. Speak for the team you know, not history you dont know. A Smith was thrown into the wolves. 20 year old 1st year draft pick , worst team in the nfl. shoulder separation and 2 surgeries because there is no defense and protection. Harbaugh lost Alex and is regretting his decision. 49ers regret losing Alex. Alex had too many fluke winning games yeah and you’re just up there talking about what you do not know. NFL goes on. Just mark my word. Denver will not win the SB this year.

          • trinity

Wtf?? 20 years old? Thrown to the wolves? Worst team in the nfl? Lol umm, maybe you don’t know anything about the draft, so let me school you. He was the #1 pick. The worst team in the league gets first pick, so of course he went to a bottom feeder! And yeah, the draft is for players just out of college, so everyone is in the 20 age range honey. I don’t know why the hell you even brought that up. It’s totally irrelevant. Because some players will either make their team better, or they will bomb. Without a good defense and running game, Alex will bomb. Lol this is PROVEN!! Looks like i am not the on who knows nothing here lol

          • Travis Crouch

Its been proven how he had losing seasons in san fan becouse he had a deffrent oc for 5years and you want to say that don’t matter look at manning the begaining of last year he was not manning and he proved he can win look at san fan scores last year and year before the def did not hold a lot of teams under 20 points and when he has to shoot it out he can what happened when he played the saints in the playoffs please tell me couse as I remeber he one that game himself anD look at the 49ers offence now they suck 31 in the nfl so maymaybe that offense isn’t as good as a break gave me credit for
