Broncos vs. Chargers: Live Game Thread; Why You Should Watch This Chiefs Rival Matchup

November 18, 2012; Denver, CO, USA; Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning (18) and San Diego Chargers quarterback Phillip Rivers (17) after the game at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. The Broncos won 30-23. Mandatory Credit: Chris Humphreys-USA TODAY Sports

It’s the bye week, Addicts and the Kansas City Chiefs will remain undefeated for another week not just because they’re arguably the best team in football, but mainly because they’re not playing. Their next game will be next Sunday night when they head to the Mile High City and finally throw down with the AFC West rivals, the Denver Broncos.

But, before all that happens, the Broncos have to face the “other” team in the AFC West, the San Diego Chargers. While the Broncos are the clear favorite in this game, don’t discount the Chargers. Phillip Rivers for all his faults is playing great football this season and could pull the upset special in sunny San Diego.

Why should we care, though? If the Broncos lose, the pressure is taken off the Chiefs considerably next week. Even with a Chiefs loss in Invesco at Mile High, the Chiefs would retain sole possession of the first place seed not only in the AFC West but in the entire conference.

Let’s be honest, Addicts. Nobody who visits this site is happy about rooting for Phillip “Cry Me a” Rivers. But as the season rolls into the second half and the schedule gets tougher, it’s all about posturing for the playoffs and home field advantage. Anything the Chiefs can do to maximize that the better.

So sit back, enjoy the game and hope for a Broncos loss (notice I didn’t say a Chargers win) and discuss it all here with your fellow Addicts.

My prediction:

Denver 48

San Diego 42

Watching the end of the Ravens and Bengals game! Wow! That Hail Mary catch was crazy!!!

    • Brandon Mecham

      That was definitely nuts

      • Jason Seibel

What a mistake by the Ravens. Story of their season.

  • Jason Seibel

Anybody else shocked that Ryan Matthews is still playing this late in the season? Isn’t he past the point where he should be hurt?

  • Jane Okkinga

So we’re missing the beg vining of the Broncos game because of the Ravens???.

    • Jason Seibel

You haven’t missed anything. No score. Chargers just punted.

    • Jason Seibel

Check that. Manning to Julius Thomas. 74 yard TD.

  • Jason Seibel

The second time the Chargers have shot themselves in the foot. Not going to beat Manning doing that.

    • KCMikeG

      THIRD TIME! COME ON DOLTS!!

  • Brandon Mecham

How about that broncos run defense that they’re always talking up.

    • Jason Seibel

Exactly. Where’s that stat guy telling me the story through the numbers?

  • Davé

and i thought the chargers might make a game out of this

    • Jason Seibel

I did too. I was hoping anyways

      • Davé

good to see a peyton sack fumble

        • Jason Seibel

Hoping for a couple of those next week. They just showed a stat that he’s fumbled the most balls of his career this year. :Nice to see a stat that doesn’t involve breaking scoring records in regards to Manning.

  • Jason Seibel

San Diego is making this Denver defense look better than it actually is..

  • Jason Seibel

Off topic, but Jake Locker for the Titans is out for the season.

Yall think an Alex Smith led offense is gone be enough to outscore the P.Manning led offense?

    • Tyler Luce

      Nope.

  • chiefridgy

    Damn damn damn

  • Nathan Siegel

Den offense is great Chiefs defense is great. Den defense is ? and so is our offense. I predict the score to be 28-27 Chiefs. A great defense is a strong offense and defense wins championship. I’d rather the Chiefs look bad and win vs to look good and loose. It took Manning 9 years to win his first Superbowl he is 9-11 in the playoffs. This won’t be a playoff game but it’s damn close…and when games are close Peyton Chokes.
