It’s the bye week, Addicts and the Kansas City Chiefs will remain undefeated for another week not just because they’re arguably the best team in football, but mainly because they’re not playing. Their next game will be next Sunday night when they head to the Mile High City and finally throw down with the AFC West rivals, the Denver Broncos.

But, before all that happens, the Broncos have to face the “other” team in the AFC West, the San Diego Chargers. While the Broncos are the clear favorite in this game, don’t discount the Chargers. Phillip Rivers for all his faults is playing great football this season and could pull the upset special in sunny San Diego.

Why should we care, though? If the Broncos lose, the pressure is taken off the Chiefs considerably next week. Even with a Chiefs loss in Invesco at Mile High, the Chiefs would retain sole possession of the first place seed not only in the AFC West but in the entire conference.

Let’s be honest, Addicts. Nobody who visits this site is happy about rooting for Phillip “Cry Me a” Rivers. But as the season rolls into the second half and the schedule gets tougher, it’s all about posturing for the playoffs and home field advantage. Anything the Chiefs can do to maximize that the better.

So sit back, enjoy the game and hope for a Broncos loss (notice I didn’t say a Chargers win) and discuss it all here with your fellow Addicts.

My prediction:

Denver 48

San Diego 42
