Chiefs vs. Cowboys Recap: Who Was Kansas City’s MVP Against Dallas?

John Rieger-USA TODAY Sports

The Kansas City Chiefs silenced a lot of haters this past weekend. A lot of those haters work for the NFL on Fox broadcasting team. There are a lot of factors that came into play to secure the Chiefs the win this past weekend, but I want to look at one guy in particular. This was a really tough decision, but I’m giving my Arrowhead Addict MVP award to Mr. Alex Smith, who I called in my own words “Checkdown McGee.”

Alex Smith showed me something this past weekend. The main thing that I saw was the will to win. This, to me, came on a third and 15 play where he scrambled and instead of running out of bounds hurdled a defender to get the first down. He had a great day on the ground rushing for 57 yards. He also once again threw zero interceptions while throwing for 223 yards and two touchdowns. He also had a great 31 yard strike down the field to Donnie Avery which ended up with a touchdown pass to Dwayne Bowe at the end of the drive.

Before the season a lot of people were saying Alex Smith would be “Matt Cassel 2.0.” Those people were wrong. Alex Smith is here to stay and he is my MVP for the Dallas Cowboys game.

    Definitely Alex Smith

  • Bobby

I 2nd 3rd and 4th that motion…And to all those worried about Alex putting up points, he is a surgeon on the field he will take whatever the Eagles D gives him that much I am certain. If they allow an opportunity for 30+ points he will get them lets hope the O line holds up and the WRs dont drop any balls.

I can’t wait til our offense is actually clicking on all cylinders………….. we going to be nasty!

  • Blake Molina

Dustin Colquitt for Honorable Mention. Dude was unreal.

    • Danny W

I think he was the mvp hands down. No honorable mention just mvp.

Were all preachin’ from the same pulpit on this one! No doubt about it Smith was a gamer, doing whatever necessary to keep the drive going being that one last extra yard, or looking down one more defender… Although enough can’t be said about the effort put forth by the “D” Alex Smith was the difference between winning & losing…

    • Troy Utt

IMO… DC is top’s in the league! one would be hard pressed to find another that consistantly pins the opponent back as he does, not allowing a return or leaving them up against their own goal-line. Glad the brass antied up & locked his contract in for years to come!
P.S… I just happened to notice your last name… Not sure where you are from? I live in Wichita, and my father & grand-parents are from W-Ks.. Family surname Molina… just curious?

      • Blake Molina

Yes Troy I live in Wichita. I’m a student at WSU

  • Jim Harper

I picked Alex as MVP too, but gave a defensive MVP to Dontari Poe. He has come a long way!

  • Michael Shaw

I would give the overall MVP to Dustin Colquitt, the offensive MVP to Alex and the defensive MVP to Dontari Poe. The three combined got us the win on Sunday. GO CHIEFS!! Kick some eagle ass tonight!!!!!

There must be a typo in this article because I read where AS11 threw a 31 yard pass down field. This absolutely cannot be true because AS11 never sends the ball more than 10 yards down field at a time.
