Many people need their coffee to get up and going in the morning. Here at Arrowhead Addict, we understand that for a Chiefs fan, coffee is simply not enough.
Here’s all that’s happening around Chiefs Kingdom this morning.
Welcome to The Morning Fix.
–Oh, by the way, the Chiefs are 1-0. Kansas City destroyed the Jacksonville Jaguars yesterday, 28-2. This was the first official win of the Andy Reid era of Chiefs football. Coach Reid’s thoughts on the game are as follows, per Sports Network on FoxNews.com:
“I thought it was just good, smart, solid football,” Reid said. “I thought everybody pulled together and did a nice job.”
–This was also the first game of the Alex Smith era of Chiefs football. Here’s what Kansas City’s quarterback had to say about the win, per the same FoxNews.com report:
“I think the best stat for us offensively was our efficiency in the red zone,” Smith said. “When you get your opportunities down there, if you can take advantage and get sevens, that’s a game changer.”
Smith was 21-of-34 for 173 yards and two touchdowns. Both of his touchdown passes came in the red zone, and in the first quarter. I broke down the film of both of his touchdowns, here.
–Finally, here’s one more quote from Reid, per the Associated Press (h/t ESPN.com):
“You want to win every game you possibly can in the National Football League, that’s what you strive for. You work so stinking hard for every week, then you cherish it,” said Reid, who spent the previous 14 years in Philadelphia.
One can only imagine that Reid will cherish his first win in Kansas City.
